Chapter 42: Favorite

Hobi's POV

Y/N and I have had great times together when we weren't fighting off Infected or crazy men trying to kill us. We both do care for Ellie and if people saw us, they probably would think were her parents. But then again I do look too young and handsome to be having kids right now.

"So Hobi, did I do something wrong?" Y/N asks me, catching me by surprise.

"No! Why would you think that?" I respond to her.

"Well, getting a one-on-one talk with everyone kind of makes a person nervous." She chuckles out.

"Don't worry. Nobody is in trouble here. I just want to have quality time with you." I say while looking at the stars.

"Yeah, being chased down by madmen and Infected can put a damper on 'quality time' so I get it."

We stay quiet for a bit, taking in the nice crisp air.

"I am glad Ellie is back and safe." Y/N says. I nod my head in agreement.

"Did she tell you why she left?" I ask her. I have been wondering how she had gone missing in the first place.

"She said that the men that you and Jimin encountered while hunting, sent men to our hiding place and so she left to distract them somewhere else. She then got captured by David."

I nod my head in understanding. "I'm sorry," I tell Y/N.

"For not protecting Ellie and for not protecting you. I was devastated for days when you got injured. I didn't know if you were going to survive or not. My biggest fear was losing you. And for that, I am truly sorry." I tell Y/N while looking at the ground.

Quickly after I said that, Y/N wraps her arms around me. "It's not your fault." I am shocked by her action, but soon give in and hug her back. "You couldn't have known what was going to happen. My injuries could have happened to anyone. Ellie's disappearance was also not your fault. Don't beat yourself up for something you have no control over. I love seeing happy Hobi. It brings joy to my heart."

I hold her tighter and smile. "Thank you for being you Y/N."

I let her go and smile widely. "Don't tell anyone this, but you're my favorite from the rest." My heart skips a beat.

"Really!? So I am like your bias?" I say in a surprised tone.

"Well, I wouldn't put it like that, but from the time I have met you guys, I feel like I can talk to you more easily."

I laugh causing her to laugh with me. "You are so adorable," I say while still laughing.

"Hey! You can't say that!" She shouts to me.

"Why can't I?" I tease her.

"Because..." She thinks for a bit. "Well, I never know how I am supposed to respond and it's hard for me to take compliments."

I ruffle her hair. "Aww. Your so cute I just love it. But okay, I understand. I'll try not to compliment you."

She turns her head away from me and nods. I look up at the stars and smile. "It's a beautiful night." I point out.

"It sure is. A great time to take a breather before we continue our journey." I look over to her and swing my arm over her shoulders.

"Let's go back," I tell her. I didn't want to go, but we had to. She looks at me and nods her head. I grab her face and quickly kiss her forehead. "Okay, now let us go."

Her eyes widen in shock. And her cheeks turned bright pink.

I pull her along with me back to the group. "Hey, we're back," I say in a cheerful tone.

"Um, yeah, we're back." Y/N says as I go sit down. "This will be a long night, so, let's get this over with. Who's next?"

"Me." I look over to Hyung and nod my head. I knew he was growing feelings for her, but I thought it was more family type.

"Well let's go." Y/N says while leading Hyung in the forest. I look back at the fire. I smile to myself. I am her favorite.
