Silence enveloped us, emphasizing how lonely this night could be.

"I want to see the child," he said, finally breaking the deafening silence.

"Not now–"

"If not now, when would it be?" He asked me which I didn't bother to answer, for I do not know the right answer to his question.

"Kung hindi ko pa nalaman, sasabihin mo ba sa amin?" tanong niya habang nakatitig sa 'kin nang seryoso.

"We are planning to, but as far I am concerned, I really don't want to reveal it," I said almost a whisper.

He roared a curse which makes me almost jump because of it.

"How selfish are you? Anong ginawa ng kapatid ko para gawin mo 'to?"

Selfish? If being selfish is the key to prevent future chaos then I am willing to become one.

"I've already sacrificed, I think it's about time for me to be selfish," I said then flashed a sweet smile a while after.

He shook his head out of dismay.

"You're not the Jenan I know before, or maybe, I just don't really know you at all and this is your true color. But the fact that your son is a dela Conde couldn't be denied. I won't promise you na hindi ito makakarating kay Henrik, but I want you to fix this mess. Don't be selfish, he has the right," he said.

Napabuntong hininga na lamang ako't napatingin sa kanya na para bang maiiyak na. I never wanted to be in this kind of situation.

"I want Henrik to settle with Daniella first," I said with finality.

"To settle? For what? If you're thinking that he would chase you if everything will be revealed, obviously he will, but this time, he's gonna chase you because of your child and not because of his affection towards you. He's done chasing you years ago. Everything between the two of you had ended years ago," he said frankly.

"I know...I know, Hendrix."

He smirks, then said, "of course, you do."

May sasabihin pa sana ako nang pumasok bigla sa kusina si Henrik at sinabing aalis na sila.

"What are you guys were talking about earlier that it took her some tears?" he asked curiously.

Siguro'y bakas pa ang luhang natuyo sa pisngi ko kaya niya iyon nasabi.

"She's just overwhelmed that I finally remembered her, right Jenan?" Hendrix asked.

I immediately nodded my head as an answer.

We bid farewell to each other and so Daniella did the same to me, but before Hendrix left, he told me that we're not yet done talking.

Tahimik akong nakaupo sa couch at ninanamnam ang katahimikan ng buong unit. Tanging ingay mula sa Aircon lamang ang naririnig ko at napagtanto ko. Maski ang simpleng tunog ay naririnig, paano pa kaya ang isang lihim? Ang sekreto ay parang lamang siyang kayamanang nakabaon, kahit paano pa kalalim ang pagkakabaon ay nahuhukay parin hanggat may pilit na humuhukay, maliban na lang kung may pipigil sa humuhukay.

"Narinig ko ang usapan niyo," sabi ni Thalia na siyang gumulat sa 'kin.

"Nandiyan ka pala," sabi ko pa.

"You're a doomed attorney, how would you escape this kind of trouble?"

Napabuntong hininga na lamang ako sa sinabi niya.
