We walked into the doctors room. I laid down on the table. The doctor went through what was going to happen. She looked at the folder, I begged that she had never heard of us.
"So, you are hannah smith, and you are Shawn Mendes?"
"Yes." Shawn said with a smile. He squeezed my hand.
I felt like I could take a breath. She has never heard of us. It was really refreshing.
"So, I'm guessing Shawn is you partner and the father of your child?"
"Yes!"
"Okay, well let's get started. I'm going to put this gel on your stomach, it may be a little cold, so brace yourself!"
She squeezed the gel onto my stomach. I jumped a little. She moves around that stick thing trying to find the baby.
I saw a smile on her face. "Congratulations, you are pregnant!!!"
I felt a tear fall down my face. The doctor gave me a tissue to wipe away the gel. "I'm going to get another doctor so they can tell you when you should be expecting and some other bits!"
"Thank you!" She left the room. Now I felt like I could properly share my excitement. "Shawn, I'm fucking pregnant!"
"WE ARE HAVING A BAAAABBYyyy!!!"
The doctor walked in. Both Shawn and I heads snapped into the direction of the door.
"I don't want to keep you guys here TOO long. So, you should be expecting the baby around mid March time. I would recommend not to tell anyone until you are around, four/five months, just because, god forbid, since it's early days of the pregnancy anything can still happen! Let's end this on a good note, you can find out the gender when you are around six months. You will get scans every few weeks, but if you want more you can go to a private doctors were they will check you up more regularly. That's all I have to say. Do you guys have any questions?"
"Ummm? No? Shawn?"
"Umm? No. Thank you!"
We left the doctors, surprisingly there were no paparazzi and fans outside. We got into the car. The radio turned on and in my blood started to play. We both belted to the song at the top of our lungs.
"IT ISNT IN MY BLOOD. I NEED SOMEBODY NOW, I NEED SOMEBODY NOW, SOMEONE HELP ME OUT. I NEED SOMEBODY NOOOWWW!! It isn't in my blood..."
(Skip the rest of the car ride)
We got home and threw ourselves onto the sofa. We turned on the tv. We watched keeping up with the Kardashian's.
"Shawn, I need to talk to you about something..."
"What is it?"
"So, you know how we are in the public eyes so much, blah, blah, blah."
"Yeah?"
"I was thinking. Can we keep the pregnancy really private? So we can keep the baby safe."
"Yeah, sure, if you think that's the best way to keep the baby safe, yeah! Sure."
"Yeah? Are you sure?"
"Yes!! If it keeps you safe, I'm fine!"
