Chapter 25

17th March 2020

The sound of the wailing baby makes my heart melt. I look up at Shawn and see the biggest smile on his face. The nurses placed the baby on my chest. Its a boy. I felt my heart beating. I slowly rubbed his cheek while smiling up at Shawn.

"I love him..." I said weakly to Shawn.

"Hey buddy..." Shawn said towering over me.

We were interrupted by the nurse. "Hey, we need an identification of the baby. Do you have a name yet, or?"

Shawn looked down at me and smiled. "Nathan Anthony Mendes."

The nurse looked at us and smiled. She wrote down Nathan's name and tagged a crib. "Before you can take the baby we need to do a few checks. This will takes 5-10 minuets. It won't be long. We need to give him a few shots, but unfortunately you guys can not be there."

"Okay" Shawn said.

"If we could take him now that would be great." Then nurse said.

The slowly took Nathan off my chest. Another nurse wheeled me into a room that had balloons saying congratulations. The nurse left the room and it was just Shawn and I.

"Shawn, we are parents! We have a baby!" I said trying not to scream but show my excitement.

"I knooww... you know what's even more exciting. Nathan was born a day after you!"

"Oh my god.!! I didn't even think of that!" The thought of Nathan being born a day after me bought tears to my eyes.

"Don't cry baby..." Shawn said rubbing my tear away.

We heard the door slowly open. The wheeled in Nathan. The nurse placed him on my chest so I could feed him.

"I should probably tell our parents and family that the baby's here." I said looking at Shawn hoping he would phone them.

He took out his phone and phoned my mum. Many squeals later, Shawn had finished. Another nurse walked in.

"The baby and mum are both fine. You guys can leave later on-" the nurse stopped and looked at our faces properly. I think she knew who we were. "OH MY GOD!!"

Her loud scream made me flinch. "Oh I'm so sorry, it's just that. I'm a huge fan of BOTH of you! And... I love you guys so much!" Shawn and I both gave her a warming smile. "I'm sorry. This is so unprofessional of me. Anyways, you guys can leave later on today."

"Okay, thank you!"

(Another nurses came in and gave Shawn and I advice.)

We got into the car. I sat at the back with Nathan.

"Come to the front. I miss you!" Shawn said.

"I'm still here!" I said while playfully rolling my eyes.

(Skip car journey)

We got home and placed Nathan into his crib.
