It's the same thing over and over again. The same old, empty promises.
"I promise"
"I promise, you"
"I'll be home on time, I promise"
He never means it. It's all just lies. I lie in bed waiting for him to come home, but all I get is a text. He doesn't even call.
To much paperwork, I'll be home late again, but I'll see you later. I promise- Jughead
I always brush it off, I get it he's a famous author, but still it would be nice to spend more time with him. Next morning I wake up, expecting to find him next to me, but instead I just find another text.
Sorry, couldn't go home last night, but I will be home at 8 today, I promise- Jughead
Today, same thing as always. I haven't seen him in over 2 weeks and I'm sick of it. I get up after reading Jughead's message. I sigh and get into the shower, getting ready for the day. The only thing that's good about this morning so far is that I didn't wake up running to the bathroom as I have been these past few days.
After taking a shower, I heard my phone ringing in Jughead and I's bedroom.
"Hey Toni" I said as soon as I picked up my phone.
"Hey Betty, look neither Cheryl or Kevin can come shopping with us, sooo it's just going to be us two" she said
"Ok that's fine" I said grabbing an apple
"I'm on my way to pick you up, hopefully Jughead doesn't get mad that you're going to leave before him" she laughed
"Oh trust me, he could care less"I forced a laugh.
"I'm not going to argue with you over the phone, but you owe me an explanation later. I'll be there in five minutes so get ready" she said noticing the tone of my voice.
I sighed hanging up and quickly doing my makeup. I heard a honk outside our apartment so I grabbed my purse and walked out.
"Hey Betty" Toni said as I got in the car
"Hey Toni"
"Ok so I was thinking how about we go see a movie instead. I have been dying to see the incredibles 2" she said in a joyful mood
"Uhh, yeah that's fine" I mumbled. I know, I destroy everyone's good mood, but Jughead and I were supposed to go watch that movie together. Might as well go with Toni since I have no idea when I'll see him again.
"Sooo, what's up" she asked
"What do you mean" I said looking out the window
"I heard you over the phone Betty, when I mentioned Jughead. I know a fake laugh when I hear one" I could feel her looking at me before returning her glance at the road
"Things aren't great" I sighed
"Details, Betts" she said
I looked over to her, remembering Jughead and all the time that he called me that.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to do that again" she quickly said as she noticed the look on my face
"Again" I looked at her with a confused face
"Never mind, what is going on with Jughead" she said changing the subject
"He's just never home. I mean, I get it he has priorities, but" I stopped before I could continue
