Finally Caught You, Flea

Starting over

It had taken two weeks for Izaya to wake up.

When Shizuo first showed up at Shinra's place with Izaya, he was bombarded with questions from both the Dullahan and the underground doctor. They all decided that questions could be dealt with after they didn't have to worry about the raven dying from blood loss. Luckily, Shizuo had the same blood type as Izaya and had made some donations, much to the surprise of Shinra and Celty.

Slowly, his wounds were healing, and his sickness eventually went away. Although, he was having to wear a sling on his left arm. Turns out that luckily, the arm wasn't broken, but it was a heavy sprain. Shizuo came to the doctor's place once again, to check up on the flea, wondering when he was going to wake up.

So he was quite surprised when he walked into the room to have a pair of red eyes watching him.

"Um...hey." Shizuo said.

"Hey." Was the raven's reply.

The room was left in a very awkward silence after the two spoke.

"So....Shinra told me how you have been visiting me everyday, and that it was you who got me out of that situation. What I don't understand is why?"

Shizuo swore in his head. He couldn't believe that Shinra actually told him that.

Wait, what am I talking about? It's Shinra for crying out loud! Of course he would tell him.

"Well? Shizu-chan?" The informant looked at the blonde expectedly.

Shizuo was at a loss for what to say, before his face wore a look of determination and he made his way over to Izaya, making the raven look a little nervous. After all, Izaya wasn't really in the best shape right now, and if Shizuo Heiwajima ever started marching towards someone with an intense look as he had on right now, things didn't turn out good.

"I want things to start over between us." After hearing that, the raven simply looked at the blonde with a blank expression, before bursting out in laughter. Although, his laughter stopped when he noticed the serious expression on the debt collector's face.

"Why would you want that exactly? After everything I have ever done to you?"

"...I never gave you a chance." This response made the raven's eyebrows rise up.

"What do you mean?" This caused the blonde to let out a sigh.

"I realized that I have never given you a chance. The first time we met, I didn't even try to become friends with you or something. I just attacked you, and you didn't even do anything to provoke me. That time at least. So I want us to start over."

And with that, Shizuo lifted his right hand out to the flea, in a shaking gesture.

"Hi. I'm Shizuo Heiwajima. It's nice to meet you."

Izaya was dumbfounded. For a bit, he still didn't believe the blonde to be serious.

Until now.

The raven's first instinct was to make some remark, and turn the blonde away....but he decided to chance it.

Maybe....things won't turn out so bad?

And so, the informant raised his right hand, and put it in the blonde's.

"Hi. I'm Izaya Orihara. Pleased to make your acquaintance."
