Before, Shizuo had thought that this was just another game to the informant.

But when he saw the dead expression on Izaya's face, he knew it was real.

Even Izaya couldn't put up a mask showing something so broken.

This is really fucked up.

The raven had finished his speech about the show that Shizuo had never heard of before in his life.

What he said about the people being the monsters or whatever, I don't really get what he meant about all that, but at the same time, I kinda do.

He snuck a glance over to raven, who was sitting silently next to him on the couch. From the look in his eyes, he has kind of came back to his usual self, but only somewhat.

He still looked broken.

Shizuo startled when Izaya turned his body to the blonde and spoke.

"So, what do you plan on happening now?" When Izaya spoke, his voice and facial expression was neutral and gave nothing away.

Shizuo simply blinked at a question, then shrugged his shoulder in a 'how should I know' kind of way.

Izaya let out a sigh.

"Damn, I'm really going to have to say this, aren't I?" He let his head fall back onto the back of the couch with his face pointed toward the ceiling.

"....Did you mean all of what you said back there?" The raven asked, causing slight unease in the blonde.

Fuck.

"Well, most of it, but some of it in other ways at the same time? Well, what I mean is..." Shizuo trailed off at a loss to what to say.

"What you mean is that you meant pretty much all that you said, but that you didn't mean to put it so harshly?" The informant finished for him.

"Yeah....that."

....

The silence became awkward when neither said anything else.

"Izaya....I'm sor-"

"Don't." Izaya cut the blonde off quickly, not wanting him to finish.

"You.....weren't wrong.....about anything." This response caused Shizuo's eyebrows to shoot up in surprise.

"Wha-"

"Let me finish!" Izaya exclaimed. Usually, getting interrupted and yelled at would have pissed the blonde off immediately, but this was different, and he knew that.

"You were right about it all, Shizuo. All of it. And in the end you were especially right about the part of me being all alone......which is something I don't want to happen....and so... I thought that maybe you could.....help me?" Shizuo couldn't help but be shocked at this. To see Izaya Orihara of all people to be asking him for help, was something he never thought he would see. He had so many questions he wanted to ask, but thought it best to wait.

"You are super strong and powerful, which causes a lot of people to hate or fear you. But even so, you still have friends. You still have people you can turn to. You aren't alone."

...

It kinda makes since now.

Why the flea has been acting like this.

He isn't alone because he just doesn't care about making friends.

He just doesn't know how.

"I think I know where you are going with this." Shizuo spoke up.

"How about this, while being your bodyguard, I could also try being your......friend? While we are friends, I can try giving you tips on how to stop being such an asshole. Deal?" Shizuo stuck out his hand ready to shake the raven's.

At first, Izaya could only stare at the outstretched hand owlishly, before he remembered how they had just done something like this. Back then though, it was more of a truce to tolerate each other. Now this is a step up into friendship. After thinking everything through one last time, he stretched his hand out, and put it into the blonde's.

"It's a deal, Shizuo." Shizuo couldn't help but cringe when he heard his name come from the raven.

"Alright, but you should keep calling me by that stupid nickname you came up with. I still hate it, but hearing you say my actual name is just too fucking weird." Shizuo let out, causing the raven to grin for the first time since the argument.

"Sure thing, Shizu-chan."
