26: Late Nights & Livestreams

“Hey, Keith, wait up!” called a voice.

Keith sighed and stopped walking. He really wanted to get home and watch at least some of Lance's livestream before he went to sleep. He looked to see that Anton was the one who had called his name.

“Hey, Anton, what's up?” Keith asked.

“Hey, I know it's short notice, but would it be okay if I got a ride home?” Anton asked.

“Uh...okay, but how did you get here if not by car?”

“My mom usually drops me off and picks me up, but apparently she forgot about me tonight,” Anton replied with a frown. “She always does this, almost feels like she's abandoning me.”

Keith raised his eyebrows. “Yeah, I totally understand. You don't mind riding a motorcycle, do you?”

“I've never ridden on one before,” Anton told him. “But I've always wanted to try.”

“Well, tonight's your lucky night,” Keith smirked. “Follow me.”

Keith led Anton to his motorcycle and handed him the helmet.

“What about-"

“Don't need one,” Keith interrupted.

Keith got on the motorcycle and then Anton climbed on behind him. The former started the engine and the latter screamed, wrapping his arms around Keith's torso tightly. Keith chuckled.

“You alright?” Keith asked.

“I'm good!” Anton replied with a smile.

“Hold on tight, though you already are,” Keith joked and sped off.

Anton yelped, but soon relaxed on Keith's back. He realized Keith was really comfortable.

“Where do you live?” Keith asked.

“I'll give you directions. I don't live too far from here,” Anton told him.

“Okay.”

With Anton’s instructions, they made it to his house in about ten minutes. They found that all the lights were off in the house and it was very quiet.

Keith looked back at Anton and asked, “Do you have a key?”

“I'm looking for it now,” Anton told him as he looked through his bag.

As the seconds flew by, Keith could notice the panicked look on his face. Anton didn't have his keys with him.

“I must've left them in my room when I left. I'm so freaking forgetful. I'm sorry Keith,” Anton said disappointed.

“It's alright. You need a place to stay?” Keith wondered.

“No no, you don't have to. You already have Lance.”

“Lance is spending the night at Hunk’s place, so you can sleep in the extra room,” Keith offered. “It's just for one night, right?”

“Yeah, definitely,” Anton nodded. “Thank you so much, Keith. I really appreciate it.”

Anton hugged his torso tightly and Keith blushed a little.

“N-not a problem, Anton,” Keith stammered and rode off to his house.

[10:30 PM]

Keith and Anton walked into the house and were instantly greeted by the two cats that lived there.

“I didn't know you had cats,” Anton noted kneeling down to pet the cats.

“Well, I have one cat, blue eyes is Lance's cat,” Keith told him. “I mean, I'm more of a dog person, but this cat really wanted to come home with me. Plus, none of the dogs at the shelter were a good fit for me.”
