73: Movie Hangout

“Hey, Veronica, wanna come over after class?” Nadia asked cheerfully. “James and the rest of the crew are gonna binge watch a bunch of sci-fi movies.”

“Oh, sure, I just gotta let my mom know,” Veronica smiled and accepted the invite.

“Awesomesauce!!” Nadia squealed excitedly and Veronica giggled at the overexcitable girl. “We’re gonna have so much fun! Oh, we gotta stop by the store and get the popcorn too!”

“Okay, I just gotta text my mom after class.”

“Alright, break time’s over,” the teacher called attention to her students. “Let’s get back to it.”

“Ready?” Nadia asked her passenger.

Veronica looked up from her phone with a smile on her face. “Mom said okay, so let’s get this show on the road!”

“Woohoo!” Nadia started the car.

Veronica cheered as well as they started their journey to the grocery store to get popcorn.

“Did you need to grab something from your house before we go over to my place?” Nadia asked as they exited the parking lot.

“As long as I have my phone, I’m okay,” Veronica told her.

“Alrighty then.”

The car was quiet, other than the music on the radio and Nadia’s humming along. Veronica watched with a smirk. Her best friend really was adorable. Almost too adorable for this world they lived in.

Veronica bit her lip, trying to stop those strange thoughts from infiltrating her brain. She had to get ahold of herself.

“Soo,” uh-oh, she had that teasing tone in her voice, “any ideas on how to ask James out on a date?”

“Wh-what?! What are you talking about?” Veronica squeaked, her face flushing red.

“Oh, come on, Veronica,” Nadia groaned. “Everyone with eyes can see that you have a thing for James. Well...everyone but James, but you know he’s oblivious, so he doesn’t count.”

“I-I have n-no idea what you’re talking about,” Veronica looked out the window, avoiding eye contact.

“Veronica, you’re my best friend,” ouch, just best friends, “I know you.”

“Look...Nadia, I’m just...I’m not ready to move on, yet,” Veronica sighed. “My last relationship-”

“Ended badly, I know, but that was months and months and months ago,” Nadia told her.

Veronica hesitated. “...what if he doesn’t feel the same?”

“Trust me, he does,” Nadia promised.

“How are you so sure?”

“Because Ryan told me personally,” she confessed. “He tells me everything.”

Veronica turned her head to Nadia. “Wait, do you tell Ryan everything that I tell you?”

“Of course not, hun,” Nadia nudged her jokingly. “We’re besties, I keep everything a secret.”

Veronica smirked knowingly, “Mmhm, yeah, totally. You seem like the type to keep your mouth shut about secrets.”

“Hey! You don’t trust me?” Nadia pouted and oh my gosh, so adorable!!!

“I’m kidding,” Veronica blushed. “I’d trust you with my life.”

“Aww, Veronica~”

The girl only blushed harder and stayed silent the rest of the ride to the store.

“The party don’t start til I walk in!” Nadia yelled as she opened the door to her apartment.

“Hey!” James’ face lit up at seeing the friendly faces. “And Veronica, glad to see you could make it.”

“Yeah,” she smiled back and brushed a bit of her hair behind her ear.

“Pleasure to see you again, Veronica,” Ina nodded, “especially when there are no presentations scheduled soon.”

“Nice to see you too, Ina, and same to you, Ryan,” she greeted.

Ryan waved at her.

“Come, sit,” James requested, remote control in his hands, “we were just trying to decide what we should watch.”

Veronica chuckled at his excitement and sat next to him. “Nadia said we were watching sci-fi?”

“Yes, but we need to figure out what series of movies to watch,” Ina replied. “My vote is for Star Wars because it is a classic movie with plenty of action scenes and a great story.”

“And I’m voting for The Matrix because Keanu Reeves,” James confessed. “And that’s also a classic. And I kinda don’t remember the third movie…”

“We should watch The Matrix,” Nadia agreed. “Sorry, Ina, but Star Wars is overrated. Though, I did enjoy the newer ones.”

“I’d have to agree with Nadia and James,” Veronica shrugged. “I love The Matrix. It’s one of my favorites.”

Ryan nodded in agreement.

“Well, looks like The Matrix won by a landslide,” Nadia cheered and sat down on the other side of Veronica. “Sorry, Ina. Maybe we can binge the Star Wars movies another weekend.”

“That’s alright,” Ina shrugged. “I enjoyed The Matrix as well.”

“Cool,” James found it on Amazon Prime. “Hopefully I don’t fall asleep on the third one like I did last time I watched this series.”

“I did the same thing when I first saw it,” Veronica laughed. “Lance tried his hardest to keep me awake, but I dunno, I must’ve pulled an all-nighter the night before or something.”

“Oh really?” James turned to her.

“Yeah. It took me, like, five times to see the whole thing through,” she confessed.

“Sounds about the same for me,” James chuckled and oh my god, his laugh is so beautiful!!!

“Wow.”

James beamed at her before watching the movie. Nadia nudged Veronica teasingly, but she ignored her, lost in her own thoughts.

The gang were on the third movie and everyone was sleeping, not including Ryan and Veronica. Ryan was still sitting on the the chair he was sitting in when they’d gotten there and Veronica was still in between Nadia and James. She couldn’t concentrate on the movie when both of them were leaning on her shoulder as they slept.

Well, James’ head was on her shoulder while Nadia’s head was on her lap.

Either way, she was having an internal bi crisis. A bisis, if you will. She knew about her crush on James, but she also knew she had a crush on Nadia. She didn’t want to feel these feelings at all. And at the same time? She didn't know what to do and it wasn't like she could talk to someone about it…

Unless…

So, I wanted to do something special for November. I decided to dedicate this month to Veronica and show her side of the story because I love her and she's the best sibling imo. Also, I didn't know what else to do for new chapters, so it gives me a chance to think of some more stuff. Always taking suggestions, so feel free to leave some.
