The ride back to Sedona was awkward for three people: Lance, Keith, and Anton. Pidge had won the privilege of sitting in the front passenger seat, so she got to listen to her techno and indie songs. Everyone else was chatting, except for the three mentioned.

When they got to the school, Keith was the first one out.

“Why do we have to go to school?” Lance groaned.

“Cuz, there's still half a day left,” Shiro answered.

“Come on, Shiro,” Hunk tried, “be the cool teacher and take us to someplace with food.”

“Shiro! Shiro!” Pidge started chanting, to which everyone else joined, “Shiro! Shiro!”

“Alright, alright, fine,” Shiro gave in and everyone cheered.

“Keith, get in here! Shiro's taking us somewhere!” Lance yelled.

Keith looked back at the van, contemplating whether he wanted to join them or not.

“That's okay...you guys go on ahead...I just...need some time to myself,” Keith waved at them, “have fun, though!”

Lance frowned, but understood that he needed his space. He waved as Shiro left the school parking lot.

Keith walked into the school and found out it was his lunch time. He didn't really feel like going to the cafeteria, so he went to the library instead. He nodded at the librarian silently then found his way to the back of the room.

He sighed as he sat down on a beanbag and pulled out his laptop, finding something on Netflix to watch and keep his mind off of things.

He settled for The Walking Dead. He put in his earbuds and was about to press play, when someone called his name.

“Keith?” the voice sounded surprised. “Oh my gosh, Keith!”

Keith looked up and noticed an almost familiar boy with brown hair and bluish-greyish eyes.

“Uh...sorry, I don't think I…”

“In fifth grade? We were rivals?”

A look of recognition struck on his face. “James Griffin?”

“Keith Kogane,” James smirked. “How've you been man? Sorry for being such a jerk...things were pretty rough at home and I kinda took it out on you.”

“Thanks for the apology. Things are going pretty okay...not really, but I'm working it out,” Keith shrugged as James sat on the beanbag next to him.

“Aww, that sucks,” James pouted. “So, whatcha watching?”

“The Walking Dead,” he offered James a bud, “wanna watch?”

“Sure, though, I've watched this before when I was younger and it gave me nightmares,” James laughed.

“Well, it's not exactly a kids show,” Keith chuckled and pressed play.

They watched the show quietly, adding in comments every so often. They caught up with life and when the bell rang, they didn't budge.

“Don't you have to get to class?” Keith asked curiously.

“I'm in college, I’m only here for alumni day,” James shrugged. “Besides, I've got something more important to do.”

“What? Watch The Walking Dead with the emo kid?”

“No, keep the emo kid company in his time of need,” James offered a smile and Keith smiled back.

“Thanks…”
