55: A Worried Reinds + Wedding Plans

A knock on Lance's door interrupted his killer Just Dance moves. His brother Marco had gotten him Just Dance 2019 and Super Mario Party for him from his job.

He was in the middle of playing Calypso when the door opened, and in entered Rosa.

“Lance, your friend is here to see you,” she told him.

“Okay, mamá,” Lance replied, panting a little. “You can let him in “

Rosa sent a smile to him before sending in Keith.

“Hey,” Keith said as he closed the door.

“Hey, babe,” Lance finished the last move before hugging the living daylights out of him. “You okay?”

“We'll see in about a week,” Keith sighed and sat down on the bed.

“Aww, come on, Keithy,” Lance pouted before sitting next to him. “Don't worry. When you worry, I get sad.”

“Don't be such a sap, Lance,” Keith groaned and lay his head on his shoulder.

“It's my duty as best boyfriend,” Lance smirked and ran his fingers down Keith's mullet.

“I thought that was my title,” Keith looked at Lance confused.

“We're both the best boyfriends, obviously.”

“Oh. I'm okay with that then,” Keith smiled a little and snuggled closer to Lance.

“So…”

“You would help me with the baby...if there is one?” Keith asked.

“Of course I would! I'd love to!” Lance told him. “And I'm sure everyone else would help too. Also, when we find your mom, she'll be a very proud grandma.”

“Yeah…” Keith nodded nervously, “about that...I've been doing some thinking…”

“What's up?” Lance asked sincerely.

“I don't think it'd be a good idea if...I mean...I just...ugh, I think it'd be better for you to stay here...where it's safe,” Keith avoided his gaze.

What Acxa had said to him kinda stuck with him. He was putting an innocent life in danger if he brought Lance along. And with a baby that might be on the way, he needed someone to be there for Ant-Ashley and the baby.

“Aww, Keith, that's sweet of you, but I can protect myself,” Lance rubbed Keith's back.

“I have no doubt that you can...still, someone has to be there for the baby and it has to be you.”

“If anything, you should stay and I'll go. If something happened and you didn't come back...the baby wouldn't ever know his father.”

“I don't want to lose you...I can't lose you too…”

“Keith…”

“No, listen...Lance, you're all I have left,” Keith looked down, trying to hide tears. “Dad is gone, who knows if we'll even find mom, I barely know my sister, Shiro's here, but not as often, and then there's you. My light, my everything. As you could probably tell, I don't let a lot of people in my life. I put up a lot of walls and have a harder time trusting people...they always leave me. Mom left for the Blades, dad left to save a kid from a burning building, Shiro left for college...I can't lose you next, Lance. I just...I can’t.”

Keith couldn't hold back his sobs any longer. He cried into Lance's chest, as said boy comforted him. Lance ran his hands through his mullet all while cooing comforting words in his ear.
