“Um...Lance, can I talk to you?” Veronica asked, twiddling her fingers.

“Okay,” Lance nodded and kissed Keith's cheek before heading towards her room.

They both took a seat on her bed and waited a moment.

“Lance...I need you to promise me that whatever I tell you here is secret,” Veronica’s breath was uneven, though she continued, “You can't tell anyone. Not mom, not dad, not Keith, not a word to anyone.”

“I promise,” Lance said softly and placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. “What's going on?”

“...I think-no, I am bisexual…” Veronica told him, covering her face. “I have been for awhile now...maybe a year or two…”

Lance's jaw dropped. “I'm not the only one…”

“And you're so brave for telling our family...while I'm a coward for not-”

“Hey, take all the time you need. It doesn't mean that you're a coward, or you're weak for waiting so long, h**l, I've been bi for three years and I was kinda forced into telling you guys because of that video,” Lance reassured her.

“Were you...were you ever going to tell us?” Veronica asked.

“...eventually, but I wanted to wait until college, just in case things got awkward,” Lance shrugged. “I'd have somewhere else to stay, y'know. But it worked out in the end.”

“...”

“How do you know you're bi?” Lance questioned, “if you don't mind me asking, of course.”

“Last year...I fell in love with a girl for the first time…” Veronica sighed dreamily. “She had cute dark blue eyes, beautiful hair dyed purple, she was kinda quiet, but we made our relationship work…”

“Really?”

“Yeah...but we broke it off before I went to college,” Veronica frowned. “She was a year behind me.”

“Aww, I'm sorry to hear that,” Lance pouted, squeezing his sister in a hug.

“It ended badly, though...she was angry because I didn't want to do a long distance relationship, you know? And even though I'm still local, I didn't want to have to worry about grades slipping, making her happy, making mom and dad happy, and all while trying to hide my sexuality. We ended up having a huge fight over it and she broke up with me.” Veronica wiped a stray tear.

“I get it...you loved her, but you didn't want to give up your dreams,” Lance nodded. “Even though you're undecided.”

“Hehe, yeah...but, anyway, I'm rambling,” Veronica shook her head.

“That's okay,” Lance rubbed her back. “That's what I'm here for. I'm listening.”

Veronica smiled appreciatively at her little brother. “So now...I have a problem...I have two crushes at the same time and I don't know which one to go for.”

“Hmm...do you like one more than the other?” Lance asked her.

She took a minute to mull it over, but in the end, she shook her head. “I like both of them the same…”

“Okay, well, have you considered a polyamorous relationship?” Lance offered.

“A what?”

“It's when you have two or more people in a romantic relationship,” Lance explained.

“...you can do that?” Veronica asked shocked.

“Yeah, you get twice the love too, lol,” Lance added with a bright smile.
