68: Happy Birthday Pt. 2

Krolia, Keith, and Lance had just gotten back from taking Romelle to Allura's house. Once they walked into Lance's house, they were bombarded with confetti.

"Surprise!" the family cheered out, Veronica holding out a cake with 18 candles on top. "Happy birthday!"

"Aww, you guys," Keith teared up, and hid his face in Lance's chest.

"Aww, Keith can't handle this much attention," Lance chuckled and patted his boyfriend's hair.

"Thank you all so much," Keith sniffled. "I really appreciate this."

"Anything for you, hijo," Rosa smiled.

"Keith, follow me," Krolia requested.

Keith wiped his eyes before following his mother to the kitchen. He screamed when he saw it. Lance was the first one to rush in.

"What, what is it?" Lance asked.

He watched Keith pick up something gently before showing him the puppy in his arms.

"Aww, he's so cute!" Lance squealed

"I know, right?" Keith pet his soft, dark fur. "Is he a Husky?"

"Good eye," Krolia smiled, "he's a Siberian Husky."

"He's the most precious thing I've ever seen in my life!" Keith cooed as he scratched behind the puppy's ear.

"Great, now my competition is a puppy," Lance pouted.

"Sound familiar?" Keith smirked. "Thank you, Krolia, I love him."

"You're welcome, Keith," she smiled softly and kissed his forehead.

"Now let's eat some cake!" Rachel cheered.

"Come on, we gotta leave now so we can get to the movie in time," Lance sighed patiently.

"Alright, alright, I'm coming," Keith promised as he gave his pup, that Lance named Cosmo, one last pet.

Lance giggled, "That dog is gonna be spoiled rotten with all the pets he's getting."

"The more love you give him, the bigger he grows," Keith told him.

"Are you serious?" Lance raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah, have you never seen Clifford the Big Red Dog?"

"What does that have to do with anything?!"

"Remember how tiny Clifford was before he got any love? Well, the girl gave him so much love that he grew up to be as tall as a house."

"...Wh...uh...okay..."

"What?" Keith asked, looking at Lance's flabbergasted face.

"I love you, that's all," Lance shook his head amused, "now come on."

"Thank you for dropping me off!" Romelle waved at the car racing off.

The girl knocked on the door and a man with long gray, almost white hair opened it.

"Hello, young lady," he greeted.

Tears were leaking down Romelle's face as she hugged the man in front of her.

"Oh my goodness! I thought I'd never see you again, Uncle Alfred," she sobbed and clung on tight.
