38: ROAD TRIP!!!

Shiro was the first to wake up. Everyone had fallen asleep on the movie at some point. The gang was all sprawled on the floor. Lance and Pidge were sleeping on Hunk's belly, Allura and Lotor were cuddled close, Anton had moved to the couch with a blanket, and Keith was in Shiro’s lap almost.

Taking a deep breath, he yelled, “EVERYBODY WAKE UP!!!”

Keith jolted up in shock first, then Allura and Lotor woke up, blushing when they saw their position. Lance, Hunk, and Pidge woke, but didn't budge. Anton fell off of the couch.

“Ugh, what time’s it?” Keith slurred, rubbing his eyes and yawning as he stretched his arms above his head.

“Too early,” Lance answered with a whine.

“I promise you guys can sleep in the car, but we gotta leave now if we're going to make it to Caltech,” Shiro said.

“I don't wanna get up,” Pidge groaned.

“Whoever gets ready first and gets to the car gets to ride shotgun and pick the music,” Shiro singsonged temptingly.

Lance, Pidge, and Keith shot up to get ready as fast as they could, while the rest didn't care.

Everyone was in the car by 4:30 and Lance had won the shotgun privilege. The rest of them groaned when Shiro handed Lance the aux cord.

“Ugh, I don't feel like listening to Broadway at too early o’clock,” Pidge groaned, seeing as she was close to beating Lance.

Curse those short legs.

“Lance, buddy, you know I'd be all for musicals, but not this early, please,” Hunk begged his buddy.

“Shiro? How long is this trip going to be?” Lance asked, raising an eyebrow.

“Approximately seven hours,” Shiro answered before pulling out of the driveway.

“Lance, please,” Allura begged.

Lance smirked as he found his list to play. He pressed the shuffle button and instantly everyone cheered as Beyonce played through the speakers.

“Don't get too excited,” Lance warned. “I have a bit of everything in here. Including pop songs, latin songs, some acoustic stuff, and some Broadway songs, specifically Hamilton, Be More Chill, Dear Evan Hansen, Heathers, Mean Girls, and Wicked.”

Everyone then groaned again.

“I'm going back to sleep,” Keith announced and leaned onto Anton’s chest.

“Aww, but Keith, I thought you liked Broadway,” Lance teased.

“I do, just not in the morning,” Keith yawned and closed his eyes, instantly falling asleep.

“Hunk, my buddy, best friend, my bro, you're down, right?” Lance asked.

Hunk yawned, “Sorry, Lance. I'm dozing...as I...speak...zzzz"

“Pi-"

“Don't even ask,” Pidge interrupted before he called her name. “And before you go on, Anton’s sleeping.”

“Aww,” Lance pouted.

“Don't worry, Lance,” Shiro smiled softly. “I'm sure later they'll join you. For now, how about you go to sleep?”

Lance nodded and leaned on the window, sleep soon overtaking him.
