“How could you do this?” Rosa started when they were alone in Lance's room.

“You told them I was bi? Without my permission?” Lance asked.

“You told me to. I had to request that they didn't make any of those remarks, but they asked why. I just gave them a warning.” Joseph defended himself.

“Oh, so now you have to give them a warning? What, am I dangerous? Am I-am I a threat to the family?

“Lance-”

“No! You lied to me. Disrespected me. You still don't accept me for me! You just said all those things just so I could come home!” Lance cried.

“I do accept you. You're my son and I love you.” Joseph tried to hug him, but Lance just pushed him away.

If you truly loved me, you wouldn't warn them about their f** of a grandson!” Tears streamed down his face as he stormed out of the bedroom and slammed the door.

“I want you out of here too,” Rosa snarled.

“Rosa-”

“NO! Don't you Rosa me! Our boy is out there being himself, regardless of the homophobes out there. He's struggling enough out there, at least support him when he's here at home where he’s supposed to feel safe. He deserves better. After dessert, you're out of here.”

“No, you can't do this...where will I go?”

“As long as it's not here, I don't care.”

Rosa walked out of the bedroom and slammed the door in his face. She hurried down the stairs to see Keith comforting her son like the good boyfriend he was.

She smiled at the scene before walking over to her son.

“Hey, mijo,” she put her hands in his hair. “Doing okay?”

Lance sniffled and nodded, leaning toward the touch. “Yeah, I just...need some time.”

“Okay, dear.” Rosa kissed his forehead before walking toward her parents. “I'm sorry about what happened during dinner. Things kind of got heated.

No problem. Your children are just being themselves and the in-laws didn't understand it,” Sophia waved her hand.

We've never told you this, but we're very supportive of the LGBT+ community,” Julio announced.

They're so brave for being themselves and accepting themselves in such a cruel world. That takes a lot of courage.

Just like when your older sibling told us they were non-binary. They would get bullied, harassed, but they never regretted it. They were themselves and that's all that mattered.

Rosa smiled at her parents. “I love you, both of you.

We love you too,” they smiled back and hugged her.

[4:30 PM]

“Dessert time!” Rosa called out. “We have apple pie, a butterscotch pumpkin pie from Krolia, and brownies from James. We also have ice cream.”

“I want it all,” Lance stated, mouth already drooling.

“Dig in.”

Everyone got the dessert they wanted and sat around the dining/living room area.

“Wow, Lance, you're probably going to have a really bad sugar crash,” Keith laughed.

“I know, but you'll be there to help me through it,” Lance smirked, tasting to pumpkin pie. “This is really good pie, Krolia.”

“Thank you, I kinda had some help, though,” Krolia smiled. “From an old colleague.”

“Well, it's very good.” Lance finished the pie.

“How did you finish that in like five seconds!?” Keith asked.

“I have the biggest sweet tooth in the family, babe,” Lance smirked. “And I'm proud of that.”

Keith snorted, “you're so adorkable, love.”

Lance giggled before tasting the apple pie next. That was the moment his father returned downstairs.

“Lance-”

“This apple pie is super delicious,” Lance ignored him.

“I know, right? Marie Callender’s pies are the best,” Rosa commented, refusing to look at her husband.

“The ignoring treatment? Really?” Joseph asked.

“I’m coming for that brownie next!” Lance proclaimed, crumbs falling from his mouth.

“Your mouth is still full!” Keith exclaimed.

“Lance, maybe you should slow down and savor the taste,” Shiro suggested.

“I am savoring it, I’m just doing it quickly,” Lance told him.

“Give it up, guys, he isn’t going to listen,” Veronica shook her head.

“Yeah, one time, he ate all of the chocolate chip cookies mom and I made for a fundraiser,” Luis recalled.

“And there were 24 cookies,” Rosa laughed.

“I was seven,” Lance pouted and took a bite of the brownie.

“So? Age didn’t matter,” Marco chuckled.

“Whatever. This brownie is super duper amazing!” Lance cheered. “Where did you get these?”

“I actually made them myself,” James admitted.

“Good jo-” he coughed, interrupting his compliment.

“See? Now you’re choking because you’re eating too much too fast,” Shiro smirked.

Lance shook his head, grabbing his throat, wheezing, trying hard to breathe.

“Lance? What’s the matter?” Keith asked, his voice cracking in panic.

His face, mouth, and tongue started to swell and turn red.

“P-P-Pe...Pe-”

Lance started sweat, his skin turning a scary shade of pale gray.

“Pe...Pe...Peanut! His allergy!” Veronica called out.

“Where’s his injector?” Rosa cried.

Luis ran to one of the drawers to obtain the auto-injector. He found it quickly, then ran back to help his brother. He stuck the injector to Lance’s sleeve and attempted to use it. Unfortunately, it didn’t seem to be working.

“It’s not doing anything!” Luis panicked.

“Come on, to the car!” Rosa yelled, grabbing the car keys.

“I’m coming!” Keith demanded.

“Me too,” Veronica said.

“I’ll come too,” Joseph offered.

“You stay here!” Rosa snarled at him.

“No, I’m coming too! That’s final!”

Rosa thought it over quickly as Keith carried Lance to the car.

“Fine, but I’m still very angry with you.”

“I don’t care. Lance is still my son and I wanna be there in case…”

“We don’t have time to argue, let’s go!” Veronica yelled.

They got in the car and drove off toward the hospital.
