“Are you ready to experience the best date you've ever had?” Lance asked his boyfriend over the phone.

He was on his way to pick up Keith from Shiro's apartment. Veronica offered to be the chauffeur for the night.

“Uh...Lance, I'm so sorry...something came up and I forgot to text you,” Keith told him.

Lance's face fell at the news. “Is everything okay, baby? What's going on?”

“Y-yeah, it's nothing you should worry yourself about,” Keith replied, his voice cracking a little.

“Babe, I can hear your tone, something's wrong. I can't help you if you don't tell me what's going on,” Lance stressed. “Communication is key in any relationship.”

There was a pause on the phone before Keith responded again.

“It's personal, Lance. Can't you just accept that?”

Lance flinched at the harsh tone. He sighed, “fine, I'm sorry for being a concerned boyfriend who's worried about the boy he's in love with.”

“Lance, I'm sorry...I didn't-”

“No, it's fine. I'll see you on Monday, Keith.”

“Wai-”

Lance hung up the phone and tossed it in his lap. Veronica looked over at him, a concerned look on her face.

“You good, lil bro?” she asked.

“Let's just go home,” he muttered, his eyes glistening with unshed tears.

Veronica bit her lip, contemplating whether to push the subject. She decided against it and turned to drive home.

But they had a pit stop to make first.

“Ugh, Veronica, what are we doing here?” Lance groaned.

“For ice cream, duh,” Veronica nudged her brother. “C'mon, my treat.”

“...fine,” Lance frowned.

The two of them left the car and went into the Cold Stone Creamery. Veronica already knew what Lance wanted. The usual Salted Fudge Decadence. She let Lance find a seat for them while she ordered.

She wondered what Keith was doing to make him miss this date. She knew how much Lance was looking forward to spoiling him tonight. Why would he bail?

After ordering the cold treats and retrieving them, she made her way over to the seat Lance chose.

“Here you go,” Veronica handed him the waffle bowl.

“Thanks,” Lance muttered and solemnly scooped up some of the treat.

His eyes sparkled, realizing how long it's been since he had his favorite ice cream. He chuckled and scooped some more.

Veronica smiled at her brother's tactics before enjoying her Chocolate Devotion.

The night was spent chatting and laughing at ice cream mustaches. When it was time to leave, the siblings thanked the cashier and walked out.

Before they got in the car, Lance hugged his sister tightly.

“Thank you for tonight,” he said. “This really cheered me up.”

“Anytime, Lance. I hate to see you so upset,” Veronica told him.

“I love you, sis.”

“Love you too, bro.”

[7:15 PM]

A knock on the door startled a little Lotor, who was currently sucking on a pacifier and playing with his stuffed lion named Cline.

“Lotor, time for dinner,” Alfred's voice called through the door.

“Din-Din?” he asked behind his pacifier.

The door opened, and there Alfred stood, smiling at Lotor.

“Yes, din-din, little niblet,” he replied, walking into the room, closing the door to protect his privacy.

Lotor giggled when Alfred gently pinched his cheek.

“How long have you been here by yourself, little one?”

“M'not little, I'm big kid,” Lotor pouts, his pacifier drooping before he caught himself.

“Oh? Well, how old are you?” Alfred raised an eyebrow.

Lotor put up five fingers, “this many! An’ I was here for long time.”

Alfred nodded, “I see. Dinner is ready, so you can come out when-”

“I...I-I wanna stay,” Lotor whined, eyes glistening. “W-what would they think?”

“Who?”

“Lura and M-Mel,” Lotor sniffled, scared about showing them this side of him.

“Aww, baby, come here,” Alfred sat down and opened his arms for a hug. Lotor immediately clung to him and quietly sobbed. “Allura and Romelle won't judge you. They may be confused because they might not know about little space, but they wouldn't hurt you.”

Lotor whimpered, wiping his tears as his body trembled in fear.

“Though, if you're not ready, that's perfectly fine too,” Alfred softly rubbed his hair.

“...N-n-not ready,” Lotor muttered, laying his head on Alfred's chest, listening to his heartbeat.

“Alright, little one, that's fine,” Alfred told him. “Your secret's safe with me.”

One final pat and Lotor was asleep. Alfred smiled and carried him to his bed. He tucked him in nice and snug with his stuffed lion. He turned off the light and left saying, “Goodnight, little guy.” before leaving the door cracked open.

Alfred then turned to walk to the dining room, where he saw Allura and Romelle chatting, waiting for him.

“Hello, ladies,” he greeted and sat down.

“Hey, uncle Alfred,” Romelle waved.

“Where's Lotor?” Allura asked concerned.

“He's sleeping,” Alfred replied.

“Oh, okay...is he alright?”

“Yeah, he's okay,” Alfred smiled. “Now eat your food before it gets cold.”
