I carry an exhausted Adam in my arms, smiling slightly as night falls around our little group. Tom holds David to give Sarah's arms a break.
"This was fun, even if we couldn't get into the water." There are some comments of agreement.
We had spent the day doing as many fun things as we could. We did some touristy things for the adults and then went to the beach for the latter part of the day, wrapping it up with a picnic dinner and ice cream. Then we sat and watched the sunset. I got some beautiful pictures.
It had been a perfect day.
I help buckle Adam into his booster, being careful not to jostle the sleeping child. I close the door, smiling a little to myself. I take Elizabeth from Emma for a few moments, cooing to the little girl before putting her into her car seat. Tom has finished putting David into the car and comes around, pulling me into his arms.
"Do we have any plans for tomorrow?" I ask, leaning back into Tom. "I need to leave in the afternoon because I have a morning shift at my work on Monday."
"Nothing much," Diana says. "I'm just staying around the house. You're all welcome to come and go as you please. I can make a brunch."
"We can't stay too long," Emma says, sadness in her voice. "Jack's boss needs him. And I am going to be visiting Sarah in India soon."
Sarah smiles a bit. "I've got a big story brewing, and I can't let Johnson take it from me again. He thinks that just because he's a man and from the UK, that he immediately better than me." She rolls her eyes. "Just wait until I kick his arse to next Saturday."
"Sarah Hiddleston!" Diana says playfully. "Watch your language, young lady."
A ripple of laughter accompanies a humble "Yes mum," I hide my grin behind my hand.
"I think I'll take Alice out for a bit then." I glance up at Tom, surprised. "What? It's been over three months since I've been able to take you out. I want to take you on a proper date."
"That sounds like fun. Thank you." I smile. Tom chuckles, holding me a little tighter.
"Anything for you."
"Awe!" Sarah gives us a big smile. "You two are so cute together! I totally ship it!"
My eyes nearly bulge out. "I'm sorry?"
"Talice! I'm officially dubbing you Talice."
I stare at her. Tom stares at her. Diana stares at her. Jack stares at her. Yakov stares at her. Emma smirks. "I second it!"
"Oh. My. God." I rub one of my hands down my face while the two sisters high-five.
"I'm not sure I understand," Diana says slowly, giving her daughters doubtful looks.
"Well, you see..." Emma launches enthusiastically into the 'ways of the ships' as she called them. By the end, Diana looks just as confused, and I am trying to edge away before Emma gets to the fanfics. (A/N-Lol awkward)
Tom is a little red-faced, and I tug him away from the group slowly. "We're going to meet you at the house," I call to them. Diana gives us a nod and a smile. Emma looks disappointed.
"I haven't gotten to the s—" Sarah slaps her hand over her sister's mouth, looking slightly panicked.
"Oh. My. God." I mutter, turning my back on the group and following Tom to the car. When we get into the car, we both break into nervous laughter. I can feel my face burning. "You do know what Emma was about to say in front of your mother?"
