Chapter Twenty One: New Roommate

I decided I shouldn't sleep in Hyungwon's bedroom anymore. He was always angry with me so I thought it would be best to give him space.

I packed everything into my duffel bag while Hyungwon lounged on his bed, playing on his phone.

"Leaving so soon?" He asked sarcastically, "Don't let the door hit you on the way out."

"I'm not leaving the house." I replied, to his chagrin "Just this room."

I slung the duffel over my shoulder and walked out of the bedroom.

"What do you mean by that?" Hyungwon asked, jumping to his feet to follow me.

"I'm sleeping in Shownu's room now." I replied, "Shouldn't you be happy? You don't like me anyway, this should be good news to you."

I stopped in front of Shownu's door.

"It's great news." Hyungwon muttered.

"Good." I retorted, opening the door and closing it behind me to leave Hyungwon outside. "He's insufferable." I said to Shownu.

Shownu laughed. I noticed he had changed into pajamas, sweats and a tank top.

I had already changed into my pajamas too, a silk slip. I wanted to wear something a bit cuter since I was going to be around Shownu.

I set my duffel next to the bed and flopped down in it. Shownu faced me, "So... Hyunki seems to really have a crush on you."

"Yeah." I chuckled. "I have no idea what I did to make that happen."

"You're a nice person, why wouldn't anyone have a crush on you?" Shownu replied.

I blushed, looking over to see he was glancing at my legs.

"I'm not that nice." I laughed, waving my hand in disagreement, "I'm not that smart either."

"Oh, come on." Shownu argued, "You need to be more confident in yourself. Hyunki taught my that today."

"He really is confident." I agreed. I wished I could be as confident as him one day.

"Hyunki taught me a lot today." Shownu said, sitting on the edge of his bed and facing me.

"Like what?"

Shownu took a deep breath, looking like he was trying to pull strength before speaking. "When I saw Hyunki flirting with you today I realized I needed to man up and..." He trailed off, looking me in the eyes, "When I saw you and Wonho together I thought that I should give up because he had you... and when I had my opportunity I was still hesitating. I'm not going to hesitate anymore."

"What do you mean?" I asked.

Shownu got up from his bed and sat next to me. I sat up from my laying position and looked up at him, heart racing.

"I mean..." He took another deep breath, "I really like you Areum."

"Really?" I asked.

He nodded, "Really."

He took a hold of my hand. "Do you like me too?" He asked hesitantly.

I nodded enthusiastically. "Yes! Of course."

What wasn't there to like about Shownu? He warmhearted, kind, handsome. The full package. A perfect guy.

Shownu glanced down at my lips, "Can I kiss you?" He asked.

I smiled at his shyness, leaning in and taking the incentive to press my lips against his.

Shownu seemed surprised that I had taken the lead, but then he deepened the kiss. I pulled away, breathless, to get a grip of the situation.

'Wow! I really kissed him!'

I was wondering where this bravery came from. I normally wasn't like this.

Shownu was catching his breath too before he leaned in to kiss me again, moving his arm farthest from me to put a hand behind my neck. I wanted to occupy my nervous hands, so I gripped onto the front of his tank top.

He leaned in a bit too much and accidentally fell on top of me. As a reaction, I closed my eyes to brace for impact when we both fell into the mattress. When I opened my eyes again, I could see Shownu flustered, trying to get up.

"S-sorry." He murmured, using his arms to push himself up off me.

Feeling bold, I tightened my grip on his shirt and pulled him back down towards me to kiss again, "It's okay..." I breathed. "I don't mind."

Shownu turned beet red before leaning down and pressing our lips together again.

I wrapped me arms around his neck as he hovered over me. I wasn't sure how far things were going to go until we heard a thump against the door.

Shownu pulled away and sat back up on his heels, looking towards the door. He glanced at me, "You heard that right?"

I propped myself up on my elbows, looking towards the door, and nodded, "Yeah..."

Shownu got up and went to open the bedroom door to see Hyungwon kneeling by the door, rubbing his head. He looked up surprised at Shownu when the door was opened.

"What are you doing?" Shownu asked.

I made eye contact with Hyungwon as he looked past Shownu into the room.

"Uh... I tripped," Hyungwon replied, getting up quickly, "Don't worry about it. Go to sleep."

"Good night." Shownu replied, closing the door.

When the door was closed and we were left alone again, Shownu turned towards me. He was still visibly nervous, averting his gaze towards the ground.

"We should probably get some sleep..." Shownu muttered.

I smiled at him.

'He's so cute.'

His shyness made him more adorable. Shownu seemed like he would be the tough take-charge kind of guy, but he was super nervous just to kiss me.

"You're right." I replied.

The universe seemed like it was balancing itself out for me.
