Wonho's POV
"Jisoo..." I said, eyes widened in shock once I noticed that the girl I thought was Areum was in fact Jisoo in disguise. She had tricked me!
"Wonho." She said, running to me and trying to hold one of my hands. I pulled away, not wanting her cheating hands to touch me. "We need to talk."
"No. We don't." I replied curtly, "You need to leave. You're not invited to this."
"Why? Because of her?" She asked, her voice sounding saddened.
I scoffed, rolling my eyes, "No, because I caught you sleeping with another man in my bed on our anniversary."
"It was just a moment of weakness." Jisoo pleaded. "I thought you were leaving me on our anniversary! What did you expect me to do?"
"I don't want to talk about this anymore." I muttered, shaking my head. "Leave."
"You really think he's better than me?" Jisoo asked blankly, staring up at me.
I thought Areum looked much more beautiful in that dress than Jisoo did.
"Yes." I muttered. "She didn't cheat on me. She's kind. She's always been sincere. I should have realized that long ago. Instead, I asked you to marry me like an idiot and got exactly what I deserved when you cheated on me."
It was then that I realized that things really do happen for a reason. I may have fixed things for us temporarily when I traveled back in time to save myself from making the bad bet that cost my wedding money. But even after all of that, Jisoo and I still don't end up together.
I guess I shouldn't have bothered messing with fate.
I should have listened to the universe when it told me I belonged with Areum.
"You and I have known each other since we were kids." Jisoo begged, her voice breaking. But I could tell she was just acting, "You're going to leave me for her?"
I nodded.
"Nothing you can say or do will change my mind." I replied, "Tell all of your friends that the wedding is off. We are done."
I watched as Jisoo's eyes widened. She must not have expected me to put my foot down like this. Most of the time I gave in to her, but not anymore. Today would be the last day I spoke to her.
Jisoo glanced over my shoulder before she stepped closer to me. "Just do this last thing for me." She asked.
I scoffed, "What? I'll call you a taxi if you want."
Jisoo shook her head before suddenly throwing her arms around my neck and pulling me into a kiss. My eyes widened, looking down at Jisoo as she pressed her lips against mine.
'What the hell.'
I heard an audible gasp behind me. I spun around, already certain I knew who had found us.
It was Areum, standing there looking completely betrayed.
My mouth seemed to open, wanting nothing more than to find the right words to tell her the truth, tell her that this wasn't what it looked like. I was taken advantage of!
But before I could, she turned around and ran away.
"Areum!" I called after her, running after her.
"Wonho!" Jisoo yelled aggressively, grabbing onto my wrist to stop me. I turned to her, my brows knitted. "If you walk out that door. We're over, never talk to me again."
I examined her face, seeing she was completely serious.
This was her last ditch effort. Her trump card.
The side of my mouth turned up into a smile and I scoffed, "Promise?"
With that I turned around and ran after Areum, wanting to catch her before she went too far.
"You're going to regret this!" Jisoo called after me, but I had a feeling I wouldn't. This was going to be the best decision I ever made in my life.
Once I was in the common area again, I looked frantically around for any sign of Areum. I spotted one of my friends and ran up to them, "Have you seen my date?" I asked breathlessly.
"Ari?" He asked, but I didn't correct him, I didn't have time, "Yeah, she went..." He looked around for a second before pointing towards the elevator, "That way."
"Thanks." I replied before running off in that direction.
I tripped over something on the way, looking down to see Areum had left behind her red shoe. I chuckled a bit, she was exactly like Cinderella. I picked up the shoe, pressing frantically on the elevator button.
'Hopefully she didn't make it too far.'
But I just couldn't seem to wait for the elevator, time was running out, instead I decided to take the stairs. I threw open the door, jogging down the stairs as I searched for Areum.
I stopped when I heard crying, looking down the stairwell to see Areum. She was sitting on the stairs, her head in her hands, sobbing.
I didn't want to startle Areum, approaching slowly behind her.
Areum didn't seem to notice me, too distracted by her crying. I knelt in front of her, seeing that her perfectly styled her had fallen out of the tie and had fallen in front of her face. I smiled a bit, brushing the hair behind her ear.
Areum looked up slowly, her makeup streaming down her face.
I quickly showed her the heel, wanting to make her smile again.
"Missing something?" I asked. She didn't seem convinced at first, probably not trusting me. Wordlessly, I guided her foot into the shoe, holding onto her tiny ankle. Once the shoe was on, I looked up at her and smiled, "See, you really at my princess."
Areum blushed, looking down at the heel.
"Me and Jisoo..." I said, "We're done."
Areum looked up at me hopefully. Even with her makeup all messed up, she was still the most beautiful person I had ever seen. I reached up and captured a tear before it fell down her cheek.
"I want to be with you." I added.
It was so quiet in the stairwell, my words bouncing off the walls and echoing back to me. Areum's mouth opened to say something, but I could tell she couldn't quite find the words to say.
So I decided to help her.
I leaned in and pressed my lips against Areum's, our lips melting together. It had been a while since we last kissed, and I missed the feeling.
This is how everything is supposed to be.
Areum and I, we had this amazing chemistry between us. And when our lips touched, I felt the world come together.
It was like the happy ending to our fairytale, and I could be the Prince Charming.
