The boys and I were warped into a construction zone. The home that the boys lived in now was only a blueprint over a year ago. It was nighttime, so the workers were gone and our time traveling luckily went unnoticed.
Wonho let go of my hand to reach for his phone.
"Wow, it worked!" He gasped. His phone screen read: 9:00 PM. It was March 1st, 2017.
I gasped too, in absolute shock that time travel was real! And we survived!
We all hopped up and down in celebration. Well, everyone but Hyungwon who looked unimpressed. It seemed like just another Tuesday to him.
"Alright guys, let's get going. Time won't wait for us." Hyungwon said. "So no screw ups!" He led us out of the construction area and out onto the street. It was empty aside from a couple of drunk people that passed. "And remember, you wouldn't want to be obliterated."
"Obliterated?" I asked, my ears perking up. This sounded like a thinly veiled threat.
"Well, you probably won't be obliterated," Hyungwon said, "In order for that to happen, you'd have to stop your birth from happening. Then you'd be erased from this world."
"Oh..." I muttered, wondering if that was a legitimate thing for me to do. Or maybe Hyungwon was telling me to disappear?
"So where do we need to be right now?" Hyungwon asked Wonho, changing the subject.
He excitedly looked around, still in shock that the time travel had worked, and said, "I'm supposed to be at a club right now!"
"Which one?" Kihyun asked.
"I'll show you." Wonho said, waving for the group to follow us.
As we walked the busy streets of Seoul, I worried about running into myself on accident. Wouldn't that mean I'd be stuck here and have to wait a year before meeting them again? On top of that, I wouldn't be able to time travel again.
While lost in thought, I bumped into someone.
"Watch out Areum." Shownu started to say.
I looked up into the familiar face of Jimin. He looked shocked to see me. A year ago I would have not been working with him yet, we would have been graduating high school soon.
"Areum!" Jimin said, "What are you doing out at this time?"
The boys looked over at me, worried. I couldn't hold up Wonho's chance to stop himself from making a bet. So I didn't have time to chat.
"Umm..." I started to say, "Listen, I'll catch you later, okay? I've got to go."
Jimin looked a bit surprised that I wasn't acting my usual way. Normally I was excited to see him and couldn't stop talking, but right now I wasn't. I had places to be. I noticed Jimin had watched me walking away with the guys. He looked confused. At this time a year ago, I didn't have any guy friends at all. Let alone older guy friends.
I didn't have time to think about Jimin as we continued our walk until we stopped in front of a club.
"This is it!" Wonho said excitedly. He peeked into the window of the club, suddenly more conspicuous because he knew people would be suspicious if they saw two of him. He motioned for us to follow him into the alleyway between the club and a restaurant to talk strategy.
"Okay, so I make the bet at around 10." He said, looking at the time. "We need to act fast. I need to get myself alone..."
"We need a distraction..." Hyungwon pondered, "Something to draw you out."
