The seven of us were seated at a large table by the window. We ordered coffee and breakfast, I got french toast because I wanted something sweet to match the occasion.
I was happy to see Hyunki smiling over his cup of coffee, much different from the state I had met him in before.
"It's so good to see you again Areum." Hyunki said, he sat across from me with the biggest smile on his face, "I've been wanting to meet up with you since October, but Kihyun said you were busy with work. I have a lot to thank you for."
"I've been working at a coffee shop." I replied, "But I... quit recently, so I'm free now."
"Good." Hyunki smiled.
'Good... what's that supposed to mean?' I wondered.
"He's been itching to meet you again." Kihyun smiled at me, "I feel like he was more excited about seeing you than he was about seeing me when he got out of the hospital."
I chuckled.
"I'm happy to see you again too." I said to Hyunki, "You're so much brighter now. Just the way you should be."
Our food was served and I started digging into my french toast.
"So what have you two been up to?" Minhyuk asked.
"I've been working at a broad casting studio." Kihyun replied, "I'm trying to work my way up the food chain. But I think I have a future there."
"You seem like you belong at a broadcasting station!" Changkyun said.
"I could see him singing. He should be in front of the camera, not behind." Hyunki insisted. "But I haven't been able to convince him to audition."
I realized I had never heard Kihyun sing before. I guess I didn't really know that much about these guys after all.
"What about you, Hyunki?" Hyungwon asked, speaking up for the first time since we had been seated.
"Well, Kihyun and I moved in together. And I've been studying up so I can get into a good college." Hyunki beamed. "You really inspired me Areum."
'Me? Really?'
"When you said that we should find happiness in life, I realized that I shouldn't be living my life just for money or to please my parents." Hyunki said. Everyone at the table, aside from Kihyun who I'm sure heard this nonstop, looked surprised, "That's why I decided to chase what I'm passionate about."
"That's good." I replied, "You shouldn't live your life for anyone but yourself.
Hyunki grinned at me before returning to his omelette.
We all ate in silence for a while before Hyunki spoke up again.
"Do you have a boyfriend?"
I spat out my coffee at his sudden question. I heard Hyungwon coughing at the other end of the table too.
"Huh?" I asked, unsure if I heard him right.
"Do you have a boyfriend?" He asked again.
'Wow, he has become really confident...'
"Umm, no..." I replied, blushing. Hyunki was not an unattractive guy. Now that he was happier, he had cleaned up well and was actually quite handsome.
I didn't have a boyfriend, but Shownu and I kind of had something going on at the moment.
"Good." Hyunki smiled. I blushed, not able to hold his gaze, and returned my attention to the food.
