Hello hi
So this is set after "The Debt" when Kensi tells Deeks that she's going to be busy everyday for the rest of her life.
This is painfully short. If it had been longer, the essence of it would dissipate.
I hope you like it!

"Busy everyday for the rest of your life, huh?" Deeks said, answering the door.
Kensi rolled her eyes, "I just need to know why."
"I already told you why." Deeks said knitting his eyebrows together.
"Yeah," She replied, pushing by him and walking into his house, "But I don't want to believe it."
"That I did it to protect you?"
"And our... the thing." Kensi said, flopping down onto his couch.
"I'm glad there still is a thing." He replied simply.
Kensi sighed and quietly sat for a few minutes, "I thought you said we'd talk about it over drinks."
"Right, because I knew you'd come by tonight." Deeks replied in mock sarcasm, walking to his kitchen.
At his fridge, he took a deep breath and let it out slowly. He knows he needs to be careful when it comes to what he says. Talking in metaphors seems to help him, so he knows he'll definitely stick to metaphors. But she can obviously see right through him, right?
Kensi, in less than two years, has become one of the most important people in his life, and he doesn't want to jeopardize that for the probability of her feelings toward him being temporary, if she even feels the same way he does towards her, which he doubts. Deeks shook his head abruptly, opened the fridge, and grabbed the beers, all in as swift movement. He just has to let her talk.
Deeks set the pack of beers on the coffee table, "Liquid courage."
"I never felt as helpless as I did today. I-I could've helped." Kensi said as soon as the beer was in her hand.
"Do you think I don't know that, Kensi?" Deeks asked, opening his own drink.
"Then why didn't you vouch for me?"
Deeks sighed, "It wasn't my call, Kens."
"One thing I don't do is mix the personal with the job." Kensi said.
"I know."
"But you just... I don't know. Whatever." Kensi said and took a long swig of her beer.
"I just.. what?" Deeks asked, slowly lowering Kensi's beer to force her to look at him.
"You are my work," She started, avoiding eye contact for a second, "But.. you're also personal.. And I can't seem to separate that, I guess. And what angers me so much is that I know that if I had been in on the plan, I would've tried to do something more about it... and my reaction wouldn't have been as genuine as it was. I know that I had known, I wouldn't have reacted as...hurt as I did."
Deeks, at this point, didn't know what to say. He looked at her for a second, before taking a long swig of his own beer, then looked at her again, "Top model's on."
Kensi nodded softly, and if Deeks hadn't been so focused on her, he himself wouldn't have noticed her do it. She let a small smile decorate her face, "Okay."
