Chapter 48

With all the chaos happening just after Pierce had arrived he had decided that it may be better to leave and to instead return another time. No one even seemed to notice him leave as they were all wrapped up with what was happening as he saw them all rush down the hall that day. So now a few days later he was back at the SC Boarding house to speak to Ethel and Steve about the demon issue. Somehow he had felt the events that took place the other day were connected, and he was right. After doing some more digging, and after having seen a few other odd things, he knew for sure he was right and that he needed to tell them. This had to be stopped soon or things could get really start to get seriously bad...

It's been 2 days now and Ethan is still asleep. His breathing is calm and his heart beats slow and steady... Ethel had been staying by his side waiting for him to wake up. "Hey, come you need to do something else, something other than just sitting in here with him." Steve said as he walked into the room. "It's fine, I want to be here when he wakes up. I can't imagine how things will be for him." She said looking at Steve with sadness in her eyes. "Look. I'll stay with him and call you if he shows signs of waking up. I think you should go for a walk. Ease your mind a bit, you know?" He said holding his hand out for her to take. Slowly she took his hand and gave a small nod after he helped her stand up. "Okay, you're right, it's probably not good for me to just be staying here all day. Iris is probably very confused about everything. We didn't really tell her anything. We just sent them off to Blazes pack. I think I'll go visit them to see how she's doing." She said now feeling bad for having neglected her daughter, having only concentrated on her unconscious son. "Yeah, that may be a good idea. And don't worry. I won't leave his side." He said with a small smile as he gave her a kiss on her forehead and held her close to him. "I promise we'll figure this out and we won't lose anyone again." She said looking at a still sleeping Ethan. Steve gave her another hug before she walked out of the bedroom and went downstairs.
As she opened the door she was a bit surprised as she saw Pierce standing there with his hand raised, clearly he was in fact about to knock. "Oh Pierce. You're back." Ethel said suddenly realising that they had all forgotten about him when he was there a few days ago. When did he even leave? He must have left when they took Iris inside. "Hi, yes. Look, I'm sorry for just leaving the other day. It looked like you all had quite a bit to deal with and actually to be honest the events sparked new interest for me so I first wanted to check that to see if my hunch was indeed correct." He said with a sheepish grin that almost immediately fell away, leaving his expression now fully serious. "Can I come inside?" He said looking at Ethel, making full eye contact to show that it was something of real importance. "Yeah, of course. Come in, lets go into the living room." She said as she stepped to the side to allow him in as they then headed for the living room. "You may want to get Steve as well. This is something you both will need to hear." He stood by the window, not facing her as he spoke. "Okay, I'll fetch him quickly." She said as she went upstairs to fetch Steve.
"Hey, Steve?" She said as she opened the door. "Weren't you going for a walk and to check up on and speak to Iris?" Steve said as he turned around, a small smile fading when he saw the look in her eyes. "Pierce is here. He says that he wants to speak to us both. It's something serious." She says before turning and walking back downstairs with Steve simply following to where Pierce was waiting for them in the living room. "Okay, now that I have you both here, let me begin." Pierce said as they all sat down. Him on one couch, while Steve and Ethel silently went to sit opposite him on another couch. "You remember when I told you about the other demon. The accomplice to the one that had possessed me before. I had managed to find out who he is and at the time I had a few suspicions as to what he could be planning. Suspicions which have been confirmed for me when I witnessed what was happening the other day. The demon has control of a wolf named Chase, the brother of your daughters mate Blaze." He said before pausing to see their reactions. "But what does that mean and how does that tie in here?" Steve asks now getting some understanding while still being quite confused. "That boy has been possessed for most, if not all of his life. It's called the hybrids curse. Not because he is a hybrid, but because he basically becomes a kind of false hybrid since he is both a demon and a wolf being combined in one being, unable to be split apart as their souls are in a sense woven into one. The demon however has it's own control and therefore its own agenda. It seems it has some big plans with both your family and his host family. At the end of the day, his plan entails the death of you all at the hands of those you trust most. You won't know who you can and can't trust..."
