Chapter 33

The next morning everyone woke up early, no one had to wake anyone up, they could all sense that they needed to and they all began to gather in the back of the house. Anne, Ethel and Steve were the last to come out, Anne was holding baby Iris while Steve held the small wooden coffin that held their son. Together they slowly walked into the centre of the crowd, to find that someone had already dug a small hole in which they then placed the coffin and proceeded to bury him. No one said anything, the witches and casters each began casting spells, one by one, someone made the grass grow healthier over the grave, someone else made an engraving on a stone that shone like crystals. Everyone did something to help. Then all the shifters, including Ethel and Steve turned and howled in tribute. As everyone was going back in Steve and Ethel thanked them for their contribution. Steve and Ethel had both decided that Iris's birthday will be one day and the death of her brother on another day.

Iris grew fast, every week she would look like she has aged by a year, though this was mostly due to a spell to help her learn and grow faster, the results didn't usually come out this good. Within just a few months she had completely stopped aging, Iris now looked like she was about 17 or 18. She was a fast learner, if she heard or saw something even just once, she would remember it.

It's been five years since Iris was born. Ethel and Steve have lived peacefully at the boarding house, Anne has since passed, but Ethel and Steve had decided to take ownership of the land and continue to keep the boarding house up and running. A lot of the people have stayed after Anne's death, though there are a lot who have left after they felt they had enough training to be able to survive without hiding. There was now only 8 people left at the boarding house, including Ethel, Steve and Iris. Today Ethel had decided that everyone needed some time off and to have some fun. There was a small town nearby that had a water park, though it was a small town it had a huge water park with about 20 different water rides and even had a place where you could swim with dolphins. When everyone was ready and had on their bathers and each of them had towels they were on their way. Everyone was given waterproof watches so that everyone could meet up at 14:30 by the food court and have a milkshake. Most of them went to the tall tube slide, while Iris went to swim with the dolphins. She didn't know why, but she felt connected to the dolphins, much like she did with other animals. She hadn't told her mother or father about it yet, but she didn't think either of them had this connection with anything. While at the water park Iris had found out that the owner was a water elf, and she gave them permission to come in after hours. She had been living here for a few years and just turned 21, she and Iris got along very well and became good friends.

Soon it was time to go and Everyone began walking back. But on their way back Iris felt like someone was watching them, but when she looked behind her she saw a wolf, but she knew that it was no ordinary wolf, she could see it in his eyes. She thought he would run away or something, but instead he just stood there and stared at her. She turned when she heard her name. "Iris, what are you looking at?" Lilia asked when she walked up to her friend. Iris was about to show her the wolf, but when she looked again he was gone. "I don't know, I thought I saw something." Iris said still looking at the spot where the wolf stood. Lilia then took her hand and they walked back to the house. When they were home she immediately asked to speak with her mother. "Mother when we were walking back there was a wolf. It must have been a werewolf. The way it looked at me. It was familiar, like we are connected somehow..."
