Chapter 36

Steve had completely forgot about that, he didn't even think that it was the dragon. Ethel was now holding the small dragon like a cat and was stroking him along his back, which seemed to calm it. "I'm sorry, I forgot completely about the egg. I hope we didn't hurt him." Steve said now walking closer and taking a closer look at the dragon. "No, and it's a girl. Her name is Cora." Ethel said looking at Cora as she began looking at everyone around them. She must have still been a bit scared, because she quickly crawled up onto Ethel's shoulder and just sat there trying to hide behind her hair. "Mom, you never told me you had a dragon egg!" Iris said as she pushed past everyone to see Cora, who immediately poked her head out from behind Ethel's hair, clearly curious. "It's so cute, mom. Welcome to the family Cora." Iris said as she laughed and slowly reached out until she was touching Cora, then she began to stroke her head, making Cora growl from enjoyment. "Looks like she likes you Iris, just one question Ethel. How do you know it's a girl?" Steve asked as everyone started to get back to whatever it was that they were doing before. "She told me. We have a mind link now that I've touched her." Ethel said as she and Steve began to walk outside for some fresh air, with Cora still on Ethel's shoulder. Iris followed but she saw the look on her mother's face and knew that she should leave them to talk a bit.

When Iris walked back inside she saw that Blaze was no longer there, but found him sitting on her bed when she went into her bedroom. "Why did you disappear?" she asked as she went to sit next to him on the bed. "You and your family were busy so I thought I'd just wait here for you." Blaze said as she leaned her head on his shoulder. "We just met and look how close we are." Iris laughed then she stood up and gestured for him to follow her. When he got out of the room Iris took his hand and led him towards the back of the house. There on the wall was a giant painting of a beautiful forest, but not just any forest, it was a forest on one of the Galapagos Islands. "This is where my parents went on a short holiday. I've always wanted to go but my mother and father are both always so busy. This was where my mother got Cora I guess." Iris said and then began walking outside through the backdoor. "Well we can always go there one day you know." Blaze said as he walked beside her. The thought of the two of them going away together made her smile. "Come on lets go for a run!" Iris said as she had an idea. "Okay sure, but is this a race or just fun?" He asked as they started towards the forest. "Both, but you have to shift!" She said before shifting and taking the lead. "So that's how we're doing it hmm?" He said before shifting and running towards her.

"Hey the reason I pulled you outside now is because I can't keep things from you anymore, especially things as dangerous as this." Steve said to Ethel when they were outside and far enough from the house where they wouldn't be heard. "What is it?" she said cautiously, already knowing of some of the dangers they already had looking for them. "My brother is coming for us again. He's looking for us. Some of the people from town have told me that he was looking for me but didn't want me to know because it's suppose to be a surprise but they know of the dangers here so warned." He said now looking a bit worried. "We will have to warn the others. Even if he is human, he is a very strong and skilled one from what I remember happened to us last time. For this everyone must be on high alert and should start their training." she said before Steve leaned in and hugged her, holding her close to him and placing a kiss on her head. "At least now we have Cora as well now, but how long will it take for her to be fully grown?" Steve asked looking at the small dragon, who had jumped off of Ethel's shoulder and was now chasing a small bird. "Well I remember Elora saying something to me, but I can't remember if she said about 5 days or about 5 weeks. Guess we will have to see." She laughed as she watched Cora try to catch the taunting bird. Steve just smiled and gave her another kiss. "We can let everyone know after diner tonight." He said to her before heading inside to work.
