Chapter 34

Josh's POV

I remembered her conversation with this strange man. Possibly I saw him on the paper today.

Is it that Edenson guy that got released from prison today?

I listened quietly. "You know Kristal Burke, right?" Ruth's voice quietly asked him.

I focused on there short replies, mostly the Edenson guy laughing about his foster daughter, Kristal Burke.

I noticed that name from before.

After the short talk from both of them, I found out that Ruth wanted to kidnap Kristal.

Why would Ruth do that?

They also mentioned Theo and she said not to hurt him.

Of course she would do that. Wait they are going to kidnap Theo's fiancé?

I need to tell them.

I heard a thump. They were coming out. I ran away from the motel as quickly as I could.

That criminal is going to kill me if he knew I was eavesdropping.

I rapidly got into my car and speeded down the street. Remembering where Theo lived, I followed the directions. Based on my memory I got to where I needed to be.

Damn this guy lived in a big house.

I waited at the gate of his house thinking of what to say to him. Eventually the intercom came on which startled me a little.

"Hello who is it?" a soft voice said.

Not Theo.

Thoughts quickly filled my brain, "Umm can I speak to Theo James?"

What a stupid saying.

"Who am I speaking to?"

"Josh Peterson"

"Okay I'll open the gates"

I got into my car and waited for the gates to open up. My car then drove into the expensive driveway of Theo James. There are some drivers by the doorway.

This guy is filthy rich.

I sat awkwardly on his luxurious couch looking at the intense football game that was on. "Hello, Theo James," a voice introduced itself.

"Umm hello, I'm Josh. I'm Ruth's manager," I wiped my clammy hands on my jeans.

"Whoever sent you, I'm not getting back with her," his arms crossed as he sat down.

"No no. I'm not here to talk to you about Ruth but about your fiancé, Kristal"

"Yes go on"

"I heard Ruth talking to Kristal's formal foster father, Richard Edenson," I focused on the truth. "They are going to kidnap her. I'm warning you now if you want your family to be safe"

His eyes wide, "How do I know if you're telling the truth?"

"If you don't trust me, it's okay. Just remember that Ruth might get in between you and your fiancé," I sealed the deal and got up from the couch.

"Wait...tell me more," Theo pleaded.

I agreed and sat down again, "They are going to find an advantage where Kristal is alone. They plan to start two days from now"

"And?"

"You should get bodyguards or something just don't leave her alone in public. They might be incognito. Plus, Richard might want revenge on her," I finished.

"Okay, are you sure you are not in with them?"

I laughed, "I have been wanting to quit for months, just never got the guts to"

"Thank you," he smiled.

"It's okay, I don't want anyone getting hurt"

Once my car was out of Theo's estate, I realized what I said. I know someone is going to get hurt.

And that person is me.
