I sat on the cot playing with the IV that was connected to me. It was painful the first days when I was admitted to the hospital. I heard many people say that Harry and Ansel are still in the hospital. When I heard the news, I sobbed for hours while Theo calmed me down. He kept whispering, "It's okay...it's going to be okay," similar to when he calmed me down after my nightmares. I palmed my bump as my IV got tangled again. Theo was sleeping in the chair that was next to where I was. I looked into the mirror that was in the bathroom. My blond hair was short and messy from the pillow. I looked over to the window that overlooked the parking lot filled with cars. The sun was rising slowly, bringing natural light into the small room. The twins were fine and were kicking my bladder, I was very uncomfortable.
Walking towards the bathroom door, I looked back at Theo who was peacefully snoring. He looks so beautiful sleeping. I went into the washroom and closed the sliding door. I kept looking into the mirror and brushing my hair into place. I had new scars on my body that shown through the sheer hospital gown. The IV stand bumped against me as I moved to the toilet.
I slid the door open to the sight of Theo. His hair was messy just like mine but he still looked attractive. "Hey, babe," his morning voice was always something I looked forward to. He smiled at me and went passed my body. I walked back to my cot and moved my legs to sit. I watched as the silhouette of his body through the sliding door. His strong arms gripped the bottom of his shirt and pulled it over his head. I'll be a liar if I said I didn't like seeing him like that. He grabbed another shirt and covered his shirtless body with fabric. Then I saw his body go towards the mirror to brush his teeth. After a few moments of looking at the sliding door, I shifted my body up to the position I was in for two days; stuck up against the top of the cot. He slid the door open and walked out with a fresh pair of clothing.
I played with the cord that connected the IV to my arm, "Are you going to go visit Harry and Ansel again?" He nodded and proceeded to tied his shoes. He hummed in concentration while his hands worked on the other boot. I looked over to the paper beside me which shown the article about my kidnapping. Looking back into Theo's brown eyes.
Theo tensed and moved his gaze from me, "I should get going." He then ignored my gaze until he opened the door to exit. He looked at my eyes and then to the floor like he was neglecting me. Even though I survived the kidnapping, my trauma from the last few days was still lurking in my mind. My hands fell to my lap and I rested my neck on my pillow making sure I had a fair view of the door. Where was he going? He looked like he was in a rush, tying on his boots. I rested back down on the pillow, trying to support my sore neck. I looked at the ligature marks on my wrists. Being tied down in a chair was hard for them, creating the reddish-purple marks that were left on my wrists. I rubbed the marks, waiting patiently for Theo to come back. Or to actually come back.
Theo's POV
I walked throughout the hallway of the hospital trying to find the room. Even though I was surprised to hear the phone call that I should go talk to the other person that was found in the vacant building, I wanted to go see her. I looked into the room and I see her body sitting up. Her blond hair was flowing down her shoulders while her hand was handcuffed to the rail. She was wearing a white tank-top and the blanket was covering her criss-crossed legs. I knocked on the door before my hand touched the cold handle. Taking a deep breath, I walked into the even colder room.
Everything was silent. All I could hear was the thumping of my heart against my chest. I haven't seen her in years and it was just too much for me. She kidnapped your fiance that is carrying the twins. I don't even know if she did kidnap Kristal. "Hey," I said as I reached the cot that she was on. I saw her pale face turn around and look into my eyes. Her hands fell down and tugged the white cloth that was covering the cot. I got my distance away from her.
She cocked her head more, "Hello, Theo." I could feel her breathing down my neck when my name rolled off her tongue. "What do you want?" She sounded cold. Even colder than the temperature in the room. I could see the cuts and bruises on her arms. That tore me apart. I knew she was broken. And I let her break in front of me.
My hands fell into the pockets of my jeans and I stayed silent. My mouth moved, "How are you?" I asked her. I could feel the sweat traveling down my neck. She smiled and her blue eyes wandered to another area of the room. I looked to where she was staring at. The room only had two things in them; the cot that Ruth was laying on, a table right beside it. I heard that she wasn't allowed to have anything sharp or fragile near her. She was diagnosed as suicidal because those cuts on her arm were self-inflicted. She rubbed her arm with the gauze wrapped around it.
Her voice cracked, "Horrid." I could hear the pain straining her voice. I bit my lip, nervously. Her hands ended up being twisted in between her knees. "I could think of your perfect life and how my life is ten times worse."
I stood there with memories of how I found the warehouse, "Richard almost killed the three people that were important to me." I fists clenched as the name ran out of my mouth. She giggled, "This is funny to you, Ruth? He put my best lads in the hospital and my fiance who is carrying my twins in the hospital, too."
Her head turned back to the wall, "He hurt me, too," her hands found her wrapped wrists, "Under this gauze is purple, swollen wrists. He forced me to do it. If I didn't back off, he would've killed me." Her voice was hoarse and her throat was dry. "Theo, it's not like your lover is the only victim, I'm one, too."
My hands went straight for my head, "Everyone said that you were there. You were in my house attacking my fiance and my friends." I looked at her, who had her head in her hands. "You had a gun strapped onto you when we found your body. Harry remembered you when Richard knocked him out cold. What do you mean, Kristal's not the only victim?!?!!"
Her eyes flickered to mine, "Were you in the warehouse with me? Don't you know that your innocent lover can be slick as poison?" I stood there in confusion. "I was never in the room with her and Richard so why do you blame me that she is in the hospital. She might be planning this all along. The last time I checked on her, she was fine. Not one scratch unaccounted for, then now she has scratches and bruises all over her body."
"What do you mean?"
"Don't you realize, Theodore? Your little lover is poison."
