Breathing

Watching people hug and hold each other tight should've made me happy, but instead I was a little annoyed. Even though I shouldn't be. They were talking about the people they just lost. It sounded horrible so I kept quiet.

"Who the hell is that?" A black bald man was standing g at the door of a blue truck pointing towards me.

"That's Allison." Hershel confirmed with a nod. "She just appeared and just in time to help us with a hoard."

"You alone Allison?" A woman with long black hair asked.

"Not exactly." I looked behind the car at Zeb who was laying down watching the road. I whistled and he jumped on the roof of the car.

"Whoa a tiger!" A blonde girl shrieked.

"This is Zeb." I shrugged. "Completely harmless."

"Let me see your folders again." Hershel said walking over with his hand extended.

I took them back out of my bag and handed them to him once more.

"What folders?" The black haired woman asked confused.

"Long story." Hershel nodded. "She'll have to come with us until I can figure these out."

"We need a meeting." Rick shouted.

I leaned back against the windshield of the car I was sitting on. I didn't ask for help. I didn't even ask to join these people. Zeb sensed my frustration and rested his head on my stomach.

"You need to show them what you can do before we take you. Let them decide." Rick motioned.

I nodded and leapt off the car. I raised my hands and brought out my swords. Zeb stomped his paw coating his body in his armor.

"Is that all?" An Asian boy asked.

"Not sure." I shrugged. "I can jump a fence that's high, but not sure of anything else."

"We will figure it out." Hershel said assuringly. "I'll look these over."

"Where exactly are we going?" I raised my brow.

"Anywhere safe." Rick shrugged. "This is my wife Lori. You know Carl and Hershel. That's Beth and Maggie, Hershel's daughters. That's T Dogg, Carol and Daryl."

"Nice to meet all of you." I waved. "We should probably go now. There's probably another hoard close by or moving in this direction."

"Good call." Rick nodded. "Alright, let's move."

***********

The cars were about out of gas and we still haven't found a safe place to stay. We had stop on the side of the road and sleep in some hollow place with a little bit of concrete walls. The woman Carol started a fire before night fell. Rick and his wife were off talking an by the looks of it, it's not going too well.

When everyone was good and the fire was going, whispers started about Rick.

"We should leave." Carol whispered to Daryl. "He's only gonna drag us down."

"Na. Ricks done alright by me." Daryl nodded.

"If you're so brave, go try to survive on your own." I interjected. "I just met the man, but I know he's trying."

"You don't know everything he's done." Carol argued.

"Does it fucking matter!?" I growled. "Shit happens. This isn't the world you use to know."

Lori came and sat down beside her son in front of the fire. She didn't look happy. When Rick came in, people were still whispering.

"If y'all think you can survive on your own go ahead, there's door. Send me a post card." Rick growled. "I killed my best friend for you people."

"Rewind." I stood up. "Why'd you kill your friend?"

"He led me out into the woods, he had it planned. He was gonna put a bullet into my back." Rick nodded. "He gave me no choice."

Everyone sat around not saying anything at all now. I looked at Rick. "Follow me."

I led him back to the cars and climbed on the hood.

"What's this about?" He muttered.

"First of all, I need to know what type of shit storm I walked into." I chuckled. "Your wife doesn't look too happy."

"Her and my friend had a thing when they thought I was dead." He sighed rubbing his forehead. "He wanted to kill me to get to her. She practically begged me to kill him too, and now she's pissed because I did."

I laughed a little bit. "So more or less its family drama."

"Pretty much." He nodded. "Let's get back. Get some rest."

"I don't feel tired. I'll help T keep watch. Zeb will stay behind everyone and guard from there."

"Zeb? Is he dangerous?" Rick cocked his head.

"Not at all." I shook my head. "But if you want his respect, kneel and bow your head. It shows you have respect for him."

"Got it." Rick nodded.

We walked back to everyone else. I jumped to the top of a wall and sat down. I looked down and seen Rick actually kneeling and bowing to Zeb. Zeb sniffed around him, growled then bowed down too.

"What's that mean?" Daryl shouted.

"He has respect for Rick because Rick showed him respect." I shrugged. "Y'all can do it too. Just so you can sleep better knowing he won't you." I laughed.

I laughed harder when everyone jumped up kneeling and bowing to Zeb. It was a funny sight to see. Zeb loved the attention though.

Everyone curled up under blankets around the fire and fell asleep. Except for me, T, Zeb, and Daryl. Even Rick stayed awake. He was walking around lost in his thoughts.

Footsteps approached. "psst." Someone whispered.

I looked down to see Daryl looking up at me. "Yea?"

"Help me up." He laughed.

I jumped down and grabbed him around the waist. "Don't scream."

I jumped off the ground and onto the wall. I let him go and sat back down. Watching as the world went darker.

"Do you know anything about yourself?" Daryl whispered.

"No. I just woke up, no memories or anything." I shrugged. "I don't even know who I was."

"That must suck. I'm sorry." He frowned.

"Don't be. It's not your fault." I chuckled. "I'm fine with how I am now. I still have Zeb. He's the only thing I do remember."

"How'd you get with a tiger?" He laughed.

"Well, I do remember having him since he was a cub. I raised him." I shrugged letting out a sigh.

"You must have been rich to have a tiger." He scoffed.

"Doubt it." I shrugged. "From the looks of those folders Hershel has, I grew up in the country."

"I'm sure Hershel can help you, if you help us." He nodded.

"That's why I'm here. I helped on the highway and now I'm right here." I laughed.

We sat in silence for the rest of that night. The world was so quiet, so peaceful. I don't remember it being loud, so I can't say if I miss it. It kind of sucks, not remembering, but I think I'm content right now.
