I've been sitting here in the tree for hours or days, I'm not sure. I had a lot on my mind and I needed to figure it all out. I can hear people calling my name. I know their worried and scared, so am I. But I need to figure some stuff out before I return. For now I'll follow them on foot anywhere they go to make sure their safe. I know Zeb knows where I am, but he knows I need space.
It was night time before the bushes beside the church rustled and Daryl busted through. I heard him say something to someone else and a kid busted through. They ran inside then he walked out by himself looking up in the trees. He's looking for me.
"I know your up there." He said loud enough for me to hear. "Talk to me?"
I jumped down and stood in front the person who promised to never leave me alone in this mess. "What?" I frowned.
"I heard what happened." He nodded. "I know your upset and disappointed, but our son needs you."
"No, he needs you." I shook my head. "I'm a monster."
He wrapped me into a hug and rubbed my back. "Your not a monster babe, never were."
"Could've fooled me." I scoffed. "Where have you been?"
"We found Beth." He whispered. "I brought someone back from Atlanta that knows her."
"That's cool, I hope you guys get her back." I frowned at the ground.
"No, no, Allison." Daryl whimpered. "We need you. I need you."
"I help with this, then I am done being a pawn." I growled. "I can't control whatever this is..."
"We will figure it out." He nodded grabbing my face kissing me. "And I won't let anyone use you."
"Then let's do this." I nodded.
Daryl grabbed my hand walking me back inside the church. The new kid caught my eye. "Allison?" The kid asked. "Allison Dover?"
"That's me." I nodded. "You know me how?"
"Beth. She told me a lot about a girl who was with her friends. Can you really do everything she said?" He asked approaching me slowly.
"I can. And no I won't show you...what's your name?" I cocked my head.
"Noah." He nodded.
"Nice to meet you kid." I shook his hand. "Where are we headed?"
"Atlanta hospital." Rick nodded. "You sure your up for this, Allison?"
"I'm sure. It's Beth. I need to be there." I nodded. "But after I'm done."
"Done with what?" Sasha scoffed. "The group?"
"No, I'm done being used for shit I can't control." I spat.
"So your done protecting us..." she nodded. "Got it."
"I never protected all of you, you done that yourself. I stepped up when shit got hot for you. That's all I did." I shot back.
"Sasha." Daryl shot. "Back off."
"Your defending her?" She scoffed.
"She's my girlfriend and my sons mom. Ya damn right I'm defending her." He nodded. "None of y'all will use her for bullshit."
"We better hurry and get there." Rick spoke up. "Get her back and get the hell out of here."
*******
We loaded up into the truck Daryl drove back to the church and made our way into Atlanta. And hid up in a parking garage.
"Ok, so we need a plan." Rick groaned. "What do we do?"
"Here kid." I nudged Noah handing him a gun. "Just in case."
"Thanks." He mumbled. "I know where your coming from. And I don't blame you for wanting to stop being used."
"Yea." I let out a sigh. "I can't protect everyone and try and protect my son too. It's getting complicated."
"I feel ya." He nodded.
"Ok, so Noah will go here and shoot his gun. We will back here waiting for them to come for him." Rick drew a map on the ground.
"I'll be up here." I pointed to the top of the garage. "I'll have a better visual."
"You don't have to do anything." Rick shook his head.
"But I am and I will. For her." I nodded.
"Then let's go."
*******
We all got into position. I was on top of the highest garage sitting on the edge watching Noah carefully. He seemed like a good kid, a kid who lost everything and was taken to a horrible place he shouldn't have been.
Noah shot his gun a few times then hid to make sure no walkers were getting close to him. Then he ran around another corner shooting again. A car was riding around trying to find the source. Until they seen Noah running.
"Drop it Noah!"
I jumped from the roof on top of the car. "You drop it."
"Where'd you come from?" An officer shrieked turning to me.
"Up there." I pointed up. I knelt down on the car. "Now, we have a proposition for you."
"Who's we?" The female asked.
"We." Rick said coming out. "Drop your weapons and kick em over to me."
"There's only two of em, we can take em." One whispered.
I jumped from the car and drew a sword touching the tip to his throat. "Be smart. And do what he says."
"What the fuck are you?" The bald man asked nervously.
"Probably your worst nightmare, but I can be a good dream...if you cooperate." I shrugged. "Drop your weapons and kick em over."
"Or I could shoot you." The man shrugged.
"I wouldn't." Rick warned. The officer lowered his gun to my stomach and smirked before mashing the trigger. "I warned you."
Everything went black, all I remember is punching the man in the face knocking him out then being tackled to calm down.
********
"She didn't die?" The man sounded scared.
"No." Daryl answered. "And thanks to me, I just saved your life."
"That bitch is crazy!" Another man shouted.
"Watch it. She's waking up." Rick warned.
I sat myself up taking deep breaths before walking over to Rick. "What happened?"
"He shot you." Rick chuckled. "Daryl had to tackle you before you could do any serious damage."
I didn't say anything, just walked over to the ledge and crawled up sitting there with my legs dangling. I'm a monster, but maybe with good reason.
