*Monday morning*

Dan

Dan had slept like shit for the past two nights. Last night he actually heard his mom crying through her bedroom door. He felt incredibly guilty, knowing that she was heartbroken because of him. But it was all gonna get worse today.

They had a meeting with the principal during first period and Dan's mom was probably more nervous than he was.

"Are you ready?" she asked while looking through her bag. "Yeah..." Dan mumbled while fixing his hair in the mirror. "Where the hell are my keys?" she was now emptying out her bag.

"Mom calm down..." Dan turned to her, seeing her starting to panic. "No! We're already late and my fucking keys..." she turned her bag inside out and still no keys. Out of frustration she threw the empty bag on the floor.

"Mom..." Dan walked over and grabbed her by the shoulders. She was panting and she looked like she was about to cry. "Mom it's gonna be fine okay? Coach already said Spencer was gonna be suspended, this talk is just a formality." Dan said, trying to calm her down.

She nodded, but Dan saw she was totally not fine at all. "We'll take my car alright? Come, let's go..." He let her go and walked to the door. "Yes... yes it's gonna be fine..." she mumbled following him.

During the car ride she was fidgeting with her fingers and her clothes. It hurt Dan so much seeing her like this. It made him think that maybe if he was straight non of this would have happened. He could've been a normal teenager, have friends and parties. And his mom wouldn't have nightmares about her son being bullied and taunted at school.

He knew he wasn't suppose think that way, that he should accept himself and love himself, but that was hard to do when he saw the hurt he was causing all around him.

Dan parked at his normal spot at school and turned off the car. His mom was still fiddling.

"I'm sorry mom..." he said softly. She looked over with a startled expression. "What are you sorry for?" she asked.

"Just..." Dan gestured, "for all this... I know you don't like to take days off of work and now you have to talk to the principal and..." "Dan stop." his mom grabbed his chin and forced him to look her in the eye.

"Don't you dare apologize. Non of this is your fault." She said determined. "I love you so much!" her voice cracked. "So much..." she started to tear up. Dan just nodded. She let him go and grabbed a tissue out of her pocket. She dabbed her cheeks a bit and checked herself in the car mirror.

"How do I look?" She smiled, still tears in her eyes. "You look fine, mom." Dan said softly. They got out of the car and walked towards the entrance. When they walked through the hallway Dan got a lot of stares.

It was obvious that she was his mom, she had the exact same brown curly hair, only a bit longer. She had the same eyes and nose and the same smile with dimples. Only difference was that Dan was about a foot longer and she weighted about twice as much as he did.

Dan figured that people had heard about what happened Friday and that's why they were staring. Or they just thought it was weird he brought his mom to school. Either way he was glad his mom was too nervous to notice all the attention they got.

When they turned around the corner to the principal's office Dan's heart dropped. Outside on the chair Spencer was sitting together with a man. The man looked just like Spencer, the same big strong built and the same strong jawline. Probably his dad.

Dan stopped walking when he noticed them sitting there. He didn't realize he was gonna be here too. He wasn't ready. He couldn't face Spencer. Seeing his face brought him back to that looking room in a split second. He felt his heart pounding and he started to breathe very quickly.

His mom noticed and grabbed his hand, "Common honey, you can do this..." When she said that Spencer looked up and noticed Dan as well, turning bright red immediately. Dan's mom tugged him along as she walked towards the office.

The man now noticed them to and stood up quickly. "Ms Howell, so nice to meet you." he held out his hand. Dan's mom looked confused and kind of angry actually but took his hand anyways, being the polite woman that she is.

"I'm so sorry about the entire circumstance, I'm sure we'll clear this right up." the man said as he shook her hand. "I'm Peter." Dan's mom frowned and shifted her look from the man to Spencer and back. "Clear what up?" she asked with a sharp voice and let go of the man's hand.

"Well this situation is obviously one big misunderstanding. We'll just hear both of the boys sides and see that's it's not all that bad, right?" He had a big smile on his face, like he was trying to sell them a car. Before Dan's mom could respond the man turned to Dan and held out his hand again. "You must be Dan."

Luckily Dan was not polite and just stared at the man. So this was him. The homophobic man who brought out the worst in Spencer. Dan remember all the stories Spencer told him while they were dating and Dan concluded pretty fast that this man was a complete nightmare.

Once he noticed Dan wasn't gonna shake his hand Peter slowly lowered it and nodded and smiled once more. Prick.

The door of the office swung open and the principal stood there. "Come on in everyone." He gestured inside. Peter gladly took the invite he walked through the door. Dan's mom followed leaving Dan and Spencer alone for just a few seconds.

Spencer stood up from his chair and looked Dan dead in the eye. "I'm not going anywhere Dan." he said before entering the office.
