"Well, sorry to say this. From now onwards, this house belongs to Sonakshi Agarwal...... Ouh wait.... It's Mrs Sonakshi Sharma for you!" he said and heard loud gasps around him.
"What? Who said so?" Rinitha seethed angrily.
"The lawyers will arrive soon Mrs Rinitha! Please wait patiently......and in the meantime, I expect you two to respect my wife properly..... Let me warn you.....If you try anything funny, I wouldn't hesitate to throw you guys in jail to keep your dearest hubby and daddy some company!"
------------------------------
Sonakshi was speechless. Her face was white as a chalk, eyes and her mouth were wide open in an expression of stunned and surprised. Her fingers jumped rhythmically in a spasm while she folded her legs gently to reduce the churning of her bowels.
The piercing stares of her step-mother and step-sister, intimidated her to her wits. Moreover, Dev's intertwined fingers caused a weird sensation in her stomach. She just wanted to be out from the house as soon as possible. With every minute in the house, her discomfort only increased.
When the lawyer arrived, Dev started talking to him about the terms and conditions of the property papers while Sonakshi never lifted her eyes from her lap. She could feel the piercing gazes of Rinitha and Jia from her sides, but she was too nervous to face them. Despite having Dev for support, she was still feeling jittery with the tensed atmosphere around her.
Suddenly, Sonakshi was interrupted from her thoughts by the lawyer's voice.
"So.... Mrs Sonakshi, are you okay with the terms and condition? Are you willing to accept and sign the will that your biological mother has for you?" the lawyer asked in a firm tone, facing Sonakshi.
Sonakshi was stunned by the sudden changes in her life. She wasn't even listening to what the lawyer was talking before. She didn't know how much property was written under her name. What would she do with so much property? How was her life going to be once she steps out from this house? She wasn't even sure about what she had to do. She blinked confusedly and looked at Dev for help.
Understanding her confusion, Dev squeezed her hands tighter and leaned towards her.
"Do you want to read the papers and take some time?" Dev whispered to her and she nodded instantly.
"Wait a second!" Rinitha's voice echoed in the empty hall, "Don't we have any say in those properties. I have married her father and raised her for the past 20 over years. I deserve half the properties for myself and my daughter too!" she sneered angrily.
"Sorry Miss. This property is strictly named under Sonakshi Agarwal. Even this house would be automatically transferred to her name after your husband, as she is the first biological daughter of Sanjay Agarwal. Any property which you would like to have......... can only be obtained with the permission of Mrs Sonakshi Agarwal." The lawyer replied, adjusting his glasses.
"What? So, do I have to beg her for my house? That too, from this characterless girl?" Rinitha screamed and pointed towards Sonakshi.
"It's Sonakshi Sharma, for your info!" Dev retorted angrily as he stood up from his place. Looking at Rinitha, he moved forward and stood infront of her with folded hands. Sonakshi's heart sank as she feared the tiff which was going to burst between Dev and Rinitha.
Rinitha was intimidating by Dev's strong looks, but she was unable to accept defeat infront of Sona.
"I have already warned you at first. Now don't let me repeat this again. As long as we are here, you are nothing more than a slave to us! Nothing here belongs to you or that bloody bastard who's rotting in jail. So..... I command you to just shut up and stay in one corner till everything finishes. If you can't, then get out! Understood?" He spoke with a straight tone. His harsh and stinging insults fueled her anger.
