Asha gritted her teeth in anger and walked towards the door. The moment she opened the door, she was met with the person whom she wanted to blast at, after all the trouble he had caused.
Dev!
"Why are you here now?" she asked as she folded her hands and stared at him.
"Oh come on mom! You can't be angry with me for such small matters"
----------------------------------
"What do you mean small matters? Do you know what you are doing? This isn't right Dev!" Asha chided as he watched how panicked she look.
Without answering her, he walked inside and sat on the couch. His eyes quickly diverted to the opened file and immediately, his eyes hardened. He quickly picked up the file and closed it.
"So.... What's up mum?" he asked after masking emotion.
"Dev... I need you to tell me what's all this about?" Asha asked with concern.
"You know I can't do that right?" he replied bluntly as Asha just shook her head. She was used to his behavior but she didn't want him to do anything wrong this time.
"Dev, I have never enquired about your work so far but...... please leave Sona alone. She is my student and I want her to be happy!" Asha spoke as Dev turned and saw his mother's sad eyes.
Her iris was a large stain of wood and ebony pigments... Its size gave it a sense of innocence and purity. There was where he got his eye colour from. That is the place where he saw all the buried happiness eclipsed behind the saturated colour of fine, exquisite oud. There was loads of goodness in her eyes which prevented him to shield her away. Asha was a part of Dev. He cared for his mother more than anyone in the world.
But there was a stubborn part of him which liked to rebel all the time. He always liked to keep his work and personal life away from his mother because if she knew, things would get messed up.
And as for the argument now, he decided to stay silent because part of him knew that his mum was right! He was doing a great sin. He was going to spoil a girl's life.... but he wasn't going to give up now! He had a reason for doing every single thing.... And now, it was too late to back out. Dev Sharma never backs out!
"Maa, I know what I am doing. Don't worry.... I am not going to kill her! I am just interested in her..... So I don't find anything wrong in following her or meeting her." He stated calmly while Asha glared at him.
"Look, I am not trusting you and am not at all worried about you! I am just worried about Sonakshi. She is innocent and naïve Dev.... And trust me. I don't want you to end up hurting her..... She isn't like all the other girls you see out there! She is different" Asha spoke as Dev listened patiently.
Dev walked towards the couch and sat down next to his mother. "I know she is different mum! And that's the reason why I am following her..... I know what you are thinking but trust me maa.... Just leave everything to me!" he sighed.
"But she isn't interested in you... You shouldn't force a girl who is not interested Dev. That's not the right way! Plus I don't want you to act as a hindrance for her education.... If I see you near the university one more time, I will take actions against you!!"
"Yayaya okay mum! Whatever...."
"Do you really like her?" Asha asked as she pulled his face and made him face her.
"Mom!!" he sighed.
"Tell me Dev...."
"I don't know..... I think so.... Maybe yes.... Maybe not......... But I am still going to try my best for her" he said with determination.
