Patton's POV
I cried and cried and cried.
Roman tried to comfort me. Logan was trying to decode the letter.
I looked over to him and he ran his fingers through his hair in frustration all the while not taking his eyes off the paper.
Roman sighed as he got up and looked over his shoulder.
"Why are the 'x' 's capital?"
"Because I believe they are 'I'"
"So work from there, I=X"
"It's not that simple," he sighed.
"Well......what about the last thing?"
"It could either be 'Virgil' or 'Deceit'"
"Do either of those help?"
"No! It doesn't make sense!"
I could hear him getting stressed and annoyed but I could only sit there and stare blankly at the wall. I could feel the tears forming and my chest was aching from the heartbreak.
They were arguing now. Roman was only trying to help but he knows better than to raise his voice at an already stressed Logan.
My head was throbbing from the tears and their bickering didn't help. If they weren't going to say something, I had to.
"It says Virgil," I said still looking at the wall.
They looked over to me in astonishment due to the fact I hadn't spoke for hours now.
"How can you be sure?" Logan asked.
"It's his handwriting,"
"How do you kn-"
"If Logan was talking in the kitchen whilst you were in the living room, would you know it was him?"
"Of course,"
"I know what Virgil's handwriting looks like, and that's it,"
Logan looked down to the paper and wrote down what each of the letters of his name were. The sound if him mumbling them out under his breath caused me pain once again but I tried to stabilise myslef because I couldn't risk getting into that quiet mourning state once more.
He scowled.
"What's wrong Logie?"
"It doesn't make any sense! V=K, I=X, R=G, G=V and L=A!"
"Logan, calm down sweetheart, we'll figure it out," Roman soothed Logan and I heard silence.
I shifted my eyes but didn't move my body and saw them kissing. My heart panged for Virgil. I wanted him to tell me everything's okay, that he was safe and that he would never run away from me. But what would be worse, him being kidnapped or him leaving?
"Can you pass me the letter please?" I asked with a scratchy throat trying to keep down the tears.
"Sure, buddy," Roman said as he passed me the letter.
I didn't take my eyes of the wall as I felt the paper in my hand. I looked down at it and saw the code also there with blanks below the other letters.
I stared at it for a long time.
"Let me have another look," Logan said getting up.
I moved the paper away from him, determined to find a pattern.

There had to be a pattern. Virgil wouldn't just put letters down willy-nilly.
Think Patton think.
Then it clicked.
"I've got it,"
Virgil's POV
I looked towards the never-ending darkness. It was intimidating: ominous.
As I got closer, I felt the chilling breeze form goosebumps on my arms and blow my hair.
Virgil, please don't do this.
I have to.
Think about the others.
I am.
