Angst (just a little)

Patton's POV

My heart ached immensely and I leaned my head against the cool bars. We were all fooled: all betrayed. But I felt I was betrayed the most. We were meant to tell eachother everything. Our first kiss: my first kiss was him just taking a break from his relationship with Deceit: Deceit! I was just some worthless one night stand. And all this time he was just gaining our trust so he.......he. I can't even think it. I loved him, I trusted him. It was like Paranoia all over again. How could I have been so blind and defensive towards the truth? I saw his eyes fade from a terrifying purple to his usual soft, coffee ones: how could I not have noticed? I saw him leave Roman's room: why wasn't I more suspicious of him? It was the same reason I couldn't resist him. It was the same reason I got butterflies whenever saw his extraordinary smile. It was the same reason I was at my happiest whenever I heard his gorgeous laugh. It was because I loved him.

The tears rushed down my face as I clung onto my sides.
"We need to get out of these cages," Logan stated, a hint of sadness in his voice.
"I guess...." Roman sighed.
"What could work?"
"Magic?"
Logan scoffed.
"We may not be Dark Sides but we still have some part of magic, we can conjure stuff,"
"How is conjuring going to help us?"
"I could conjure a..........magical cage opener?"
"Oh jeeze, okay,"
"Here goes," I heard it appear and he exclaimed,
"Hazah!"

I heard the bars topple down and his footsteps tap on the marble floor. He went to Logan's cage and the bars landed on the floor once more.
"Thank you," he said. I could still hear the pain of betrayal in his monotone voice.

"Right Patton, your turn," he said. I heard my bars fall on the floor but I didn't move. I just sat there against the bars enjoying the cold metal against my burning cheeks.
"Pat," Roman called.
I lay still.
"Patton, we must go," Logan stated.

I whimpered.
"Patton, I know you're hurt, we all are, but we have to go,"
"He's not going to move," Logan sighed.
I then felt Roman's strong hands around my waist and I was placed on his shoulder.

Roman's POV

He wouldn't budge. It broke our hearts to see him just give up. I picked him up and placed him on my shoulder. He didn't even try and hold onto me, it was just like he had lost all hope.
"I can't believe Virgil did such a thing," Logan stated.
I hit him in the stomach lightly.
"What the-oh,"

I felt my back becoming damp.
"Pat are you still crying?" I asked. I heard his sad breathing through the tears.
"Oh Pat," I said softly.
"You know it's a shame that he's a Dark Side because he's so beneficial to Thomas now,"
"Logan!" I hissed.
"I am just stating facts!"
"Patton's hurt!"
"We're all hurt!"
"Patton loves Virgil!"

Patton's POV

I stopped crying. Did I love him? He had plotted to kill us, he was actually a Dark Side, he had done such awful things to Logan and Roman, he was in a relationship with Deceit and he tore my heart out.

I don't think you could even call it a heart anymore. It was just a pile of shards flowing in the bitter wind.

I had to consider one thing; we were told all this by Deceit. Could we trust him? He has tried to fool us in the past and he's a Dark Side.

I had to consider another thing: Logan. Logan is amazing at detecting lies, or 'falsehoods' as he likes to call them. He said Deceit almost sounded sincere. It would be hard to trust a person who has lied to you your whole life.

The third thing I had to consider was Virgil. The first time I had heard his stunning voice I was hooked. I thought I could trust him with anything and everything. At first he denied anything that Deceit said but after Logan detected truth in his voice, it was almost like he had given up. He begged him to stop like he was in pain and looked to me for forgiveness. I looked once more at his glossy coffee eyes and turned him down. He admitted to his crimes and that was my last consideration.
