Saturday we got the news
We had been expecting
For the last week
My last remaining great aunt
Transitioned homeShe was in a random nursing home
Alone
Without any family
Because she lived in Israel
And we're in the statesShe joined her two sisters
My grandmother and the oldest
Who went first in 2002
And my other great aunt, the youngest
My guardian angel, Mira
Who left in 2011Now Tsilya Shif
The last remaining one of that name
Has followed her family
To heaven
At 92Her vessel was buried today
In the same cemetery as Mira
Which is what we wanted
We couldn't be there
But now we close the chapter
On yet another member of our tiny familyHer soul's journey continues elsewhere
Though away from us
My only real wish is something that can't Happen because you can't turn back time
I just wish Mira & Tsilya had come to
America instead of going to Israel all alone
Without family or friendsI wish they immigrated here with us
At least we could've been together these
Long and yet short 29 years
Perhaps they would have both lived longer
If we got a chance to look after them properly
Even my grandmother maybe would have
Been less stressed with them hereBecause you cannot look after someone
In a different country
Halfway around the world
No matter how hard you tryBut one cannot turn back time
Change the past
They made their own decisions
And lived with themNow all 3 sisters are together again
In nearly 30 years
The last one
Transitioned home
May her soul finally find peaceAs we, still on this earth
Find solace in the knowledge
That someday, we'll all be reunited again
In the hereafterBaruch HaShem.
