I never imagined myself
Part of something special
A place
A community
Of individuals from 13 different
Time zones
People who used common sense
Had a sense of humor
But most importantly
Had each other's backs
Without being asked or beckoned
Maturity years ahead of time
Intelligence tenfold
Appreciation for an elder
All the while being upbeat
Mood light as a feather
Strength stiff as a board
I am so not used to having
Back up when people
Come after me
I have always been
My own, singular David
Facing off against plural Goliaths
But not today
Today, I looked around
And had an army
Of strong, fierce women
Taking up proverbial arms
In the defense of my position
My opinion, my right to speak my truth
It was surprising
It was amazing
It was friendship
It was love
It was how a community should be
It was majestic
