Sun shines
Wind blows
Autumn turns colors of trees
Birds sail through the airWalking by people
Crunching leaves, gravel
The soft thud of singular footsteps
Around a world of noiseAll of it's drowned out
By solitary
Loneliness
Like a rock dropped into a lake
It causes ripples, it's true
But soon the water smooths out
What hit it, forgottenAn age where everyone else
Has their lives together
Jobs they go to
Marriages, children
Moving forward into a futurePlay dates, large families
Something new to do
There's a togetherness
Loneliness doesn't know ofTrue, everyone walks a path at
Their own rate, pace, timing
But why must many have it easy
While few have to struggle
Lost in the brush
Of a never ending jungle
Fighting to claw through it allNot giving up, not a thought
But loneliness is a constant
Ghostly companion;
Wanting, needing to be shaken freeWishing upon stars
To the heavens
Because maybe, just maybe
Loneliness will leave only
Happiness in its wake.
