Anne's POV

"There it is." I said as I pointed at the really special tree.

"Hey, our names are still carved on this tree." said Gilbert with excitement in his voice.

"AnnE Sherley Cathbert Blythe and Gilbert 'handsome' Blythe." I read out loud as I laughed at his spelling.

"It's not my fault that your surnames are hard to write." said Gilbert in defence.

"I love how you wrote me name with a capital 'E'." I said as I touched our names.

"I didn't have much of a choice." said Gilbert and I chuckled at the memory.

Flashback Begins

"With an e." said a five year old Anne.

"I know."

"Then, write it." said Anne annoyed and Gilbert did what he was told.

"Happy?" said Gilbert as he showed Anne their names.

"You put a capital 'E'." said Anne with a giggle.

"It's because you're my embarrassment." said Gilbert and Anne pushed him with a pout.

"That's mean." said Anne as she crossed her arms.

"I'm only kidding, princess. E stands for earth, and once I read in a book this quote 'the earth is like a child that knows poems by heart by Rainer Maria Rilke'." said Gilbert with a smile.

"I LOVE POEMS." said Anne as she clapped her hands.

"That's why you're my earth." said Gilbert with a blush.

"You're my moon then." said Anne thoughtfully.

"Why?"

"I read once this... The moon is a loyal companion. It never leaves. It's always there, watching, steadfast, knowing us in our light and dark moments, changing forever just as we do. Every day it's a different version of itself. Sometimes weak and wan, sometimes strong and full of light. The moon understands what it means to be human. Uncertain. Alone. Cratered by imperfections by Tahereh Mafi, Shatter Me.'"

"Did you just call me your companion?" asked Gilbert with a bright smile.

"Well... You obviously wrote your last name for my name. So, we're already married." said Anne.

"You and me?" asked Gilbert, worried.

"You and me." answered Anne, with a smile.

"Forever."

"And always."

In that moment. They knew that they understood each other perfectly. It didn't matter how old they were. They had something. That no one could break.

It was love.

Flashback Ends

"I can't believe you used the word 'handsome' as your middle name." laughed Anne and Gilbert joined her.
