Anne's POV

"Come on. Jerry, open your eyes. Please." I begged him quietly as tears started to fall harder down my cheeks.

"ANNE. IT'S RUBY. OPEN THE DOOR." I heard someone yell from outside.

"COMING."

I opened the door and came across Ruby and Gilbert.

Initially, Ruby run to Jerry. While, Gilbert walked inside.

"He is studying to become a doctor. Let him in." said Ruby as she stroked Jerry's cheek.

"Fine." I said as I let him inside.

"Raise his legs above heart level, so about 12 inches and... He is coming back." said Gilbert as he helped us put his feet on a chair.

"W-what happened?" asked Jerry.

"You fainted." said Gilbert and I nodded.

"Oh." said Jerry and my eyes widen.

"Oh? Does this happen often?" I asked scared.

"Just when he is having a panic attack episode." said Ruby.

"So?" I asked.

"He hasn't had one in years. At least, as badly that it leaded on him fainting. So..." said Ruby as she held his hand.

"I-I want to stand up." said Jerry and Gilbert pushed him down gently.

"You need to stay like that for a few minutes to avoid fainting again..." said Gilbert and Jerry scoffed.

"Who made you the doctor?"

"Hopefully, the university after I finish it." said Gilbert, ignoring Jerry's snap.

"Ruby, we need to go or mum will be mad." said Gilbert and Ruby tensed.

"I want to stay."

"She can sleep in my bed and I'll take the couch or something." I volunteered.

"Mum won't approve." said Gilbert.

"It's not like she raised me." snapped Ruby and sat still.

Gilbert nodded with a sigh and walked towards the door.

"You're welcome."

"Oh, I'm sorry were you speaking to us or backstabbing us." I said and Jerry quietly chuckled.

"Anne..." started Ruby but stopped when she saw how mad I was.

"You want to speak to me, now?" asked Gilbert, sarcastically.

"I'm not the one who walked out." I said and he laughed.

"You weren't taking me seriously."

"Neither were you."

"You were being immature."

"What did you just call me?" I asked and I saw him shiver and take a step back.

"You heard me." said Gilbert as he stayed still while I walked closer.

"I heard you loud and clear that's for sure." I said as I got my notebook from the desk next to him and hit him on the head with it.

"DUDE, THAT HURT." yelled Gilbert as he rubbed his head.

"I DIDN'T KNOW UNEMOTIONAL PEOPLE LIKE YOU COULD FEEL PAIN." I yelled back.

"PLEASE, ANNE. THIS SHOULDN'T BE EVEN TOLD BY YOU. THE SCHOOL'S BIGGEST PLAYER." yelled Gilbert and I pushed him.

"SAYS THE ONE THAT FLIRTS WITH EVERY SINGLE GIRL AT SCHOOL." I yelled as I walked out Green Gables to give Jerry and Ruby some quality time.

"TAKE THAT BACK."

"NO."

"CARROTS." yelled Gilbert and then his face paled.

I stopped walking.

Flashback Begins

"Carrots. Carrots. Carrots." said a seven year old Gilbert.

"STOP SAYING THAT." yelled the redhead as she hit him with her grandma's slate.

"What's your problem?" asked Gilbert.

"I hate that and you know it too, Gilbert." said Anne with a frown. "That's what those girls said to me when I was young and then they pulled on my braids. It was horrible and when someone says that it means they hate me because they remind me that." said Anne and Gilbert's confused facial expression got replace with a frown.

"I won't say it again." said Gilbert.

"Promise?"

"Promise." said Gilbert as he hugged her.

Flashback Ends

"I can't believe you just said that." I said weakly.

"It just came out of my mouth. I didn't mean to. I promise." said Gilbert as my vision started to get blurry from all the tears.

"I trusted you." I continued to take a step back.

"And that was the right choice." said Gilbert as he took another step towards me.

"You're the only one who knows about this..." I said and Gilbert took my hands in his.

"It was a mistake." said Gilbert.

"No, the mistake was trusting you." I said as I forcefully pushed him away and run inside Green Gables and upstairs in my room.

Woah. The tea is boiling. What will happen?
