Anne's POV
Today was the 31st of December as known as the dance day. If I'm being completely honest, nothing interesting happened the previous days kinda. Gilbert and I didn't talk about being together. We are between being friends and being together. It's uncomfortable.
The Ruby situation completely broke him. Amanda and Violet tried to comfort him but he always found a way to get them to leave him alone.
Unfortunately, I was the reason.
Let's go a bit to the past, shall we now? How about the 30th of January. So, yesterday...
Flashback Begins
"Gilbert, I can help you get home, you seem so weak. I can help you carry your bag. Besides, it's a great way to talk about events?"
That was her way of asking Gilbert to the dance... Violin (it was a nickname for her) I'm so embarrassed for you.
"Or we can talk you know for that thing..."
Amanda, my dearest. Sighs.
I had to leave school without him seeing me since he used me as an excuse for the whole week.
"One, two... Three... Four. The knock... Door. Open -"
"Anne!"
Why? I was so close. Maybe, pretend that I didn't hear him would be good.
"I -"
"Thank you, carrots." said Gilbert as he pulled me in front of them.
"Hey." I said as I waved at the quite cold.
"Anne, want to walk with me to your house? I'm meeting Jerry. He wants advice for something." said Charlie and the girls faces lid up.
"Absolutely." I said as I went to join him but Gilbert pulled me towards him carefully.
"No. My dearest shall stay with me. Goodbye Charlie." said Gilbert a bit upset.
"I wasn't trying to court her or something, buddy. I have my eye on a certain someone. For a while if I'm being honest." said Charlie with a dreamy smile.
"How is she?" asked Gilbert with a smile.
"Beautiful." said Charlie as he exited the room.
No, come up. Or I'll throw a slate at you. Charlie.
"...Is she always the one to walk you home?"
I thought it was over but apparently I am the main one in this thing.
"I can leave." I said and Gilbert held me a bit tighter yet gently. I opened my bottle which I had in my basket and started to drink my water.
"I want my princess to walk me home."
I started to cough violently.
"Are you courting her?" asked Violet dangerously.
I shook my head at Gilbert and he luckily nodded in agreement.
"Yes."
Or not...
"But, she is a freak."
"Thank you, Violet." I said with a smile.
This didn't have a power over me, since I learned to leave with it.
"Never insult her." said Gilbert as the tone of his voice got lower.
"Yes, Violet. Anne is a great girl." said Amanda with a nod.
"Cut me a break Amanda." said Gilbert as he pulled me outside.
"That was disappointing." I said as I started to walk with him.
"What?" said Gilbert as he turned and looked at me.
"She didn't have a chance to speak as much as Violet. That's not fair. You should go back and listen to what she has to say." I said as I tried to leave, when I saw our intertwined hands.
"I can't leave you." said Gilbert, with a soft smile and a gentle press on my hand.
Flashback Ends
Exactly, now I'm ready. I decided to wear a blue dress, Gilb- someone told me that it brought out my eyes.
"Anne, let's go." yelled Jerry from downstairs, whilst I was letting my hair down.
"I will be there in a moment." I shouted back as I let my straight hair down.
I wore my black shoes and walked down the stairs.
As soon as, Jerry looked at me. He smiled and held out his arm.
"You look bad."
"You look worst." I laughed as I pushed him jokingly.
"Do wait a moment, kids." that was Marilla.
Jerry and I looked at each other and instantly run out of the house, yelling our goodbyes.
"Kids." I heard Matthew chuckled from inside.
"What do you think will happen?" asked Jerry as we walked slowly.
"The truth will come out." I said with a smile.
Jerry looked at me worried as his arm tighten around mine.
When we reached the school I stopped and let go of his arm.
"Your tie is a bit..."
"Charlie fixed it."
"Point taken." I said as I laughed and fixed his tie.
Then, we got to our normal position and continued towards the school.
When we reached the door, we took a deep breath and opened it, entering.
It looked like it come right out of a book.
They looked like princesses and princes.
I know I'm going to have fun.
Or at least I hope I will, depending on the today's circumstances.
A few more chapters and it's the end.♥️
