Anne's POV

"Dear Ruby Gillis.

Don't think I forgot about you my dear one.

I've done the research you asked for and I have brought some papers for you to read or ask someone to read to you if you can't.

You're pretty old though... I don't mean old old... The word I'm looking for is however...

Please don't do anything irrational. We all love you and care for you... Except your parents but who cares about them... Well, maybe you do? Alright I'm talking quite a lot.

Visit me on the 25th of December at 4pm at the Cuthbert's house.

We are here,

Mrs Lynde"

Then, I opened the envelope clueless of what that meant.

Then, Gilbert got the piece of paper from my grip...

He is rude.

I would like to keep my name a secret in case of someone finding this paper until I give it to the one who is going to take care of my child.

My child from the day it will get born it will be under the supervision of Mr and Mrs Blythe, the parents of Gilbert Blythe.

I shall not ever visit my daughter and my husband should never find out what happened since we will tell him that she got lost in the woods.

My daughter is ought to be treated with respect and love.

Lastly, she should never find out about her being adopted from anybody.

He whispered and turned the paper around.

I Mr and Mrs Blythe shall never disrespect and mistreat my own kid even though she is not my actual one.

I should love her and Gilbert Blythe the same and show it.

She should never be on her own.

The truth will never be discovered.

Gilbert Blythe is going to be her half brother.

Gilbert sat on the ground as his hands shook violently.

He hid his face in his palms and he started to shake.

It took me a moment but I realized he was sobbing so I sat next to him, not quite sure what to do.

He took a sharp breath in and looked up. He turned and stared into my eyes and in a light of a moment. A tear started to fall, then two, now he was sobbing. It was like his heart had just been broken in a million piece, all the weight of being lied to his entire life, he had been betrayed.

Then, he got upset. He stood up and wiped his tears violently. Mumbling something I didn't quite understand. Until, I took a step closer...

"Would I ever lie to you, son? She is a bit crazy... Sure, mother that's what it was." then, he started biting his fingernails as his lip become a frown.

I tried to get a hold of his hand but at the last second I decided against it.

"I'm not fragile."

He said weakly yet louder than he spoke a second before.

"I didn't--"

"You thought it..."

I nodded as I looked at my hands ashamed.

"I am not angry at you. I do hope you know this."

I looked back up and I was welcomed by his brown eyes.

"I-I know."

"I'm so tired of being lied to, carrots."

"I know."

I said and although I usually would feel a annoyed by his use of description of me. This time, it didn't seem so bad. I wonder why.

He looked back at the church and smiled softly.

I looked towards the same direction as well and I saw Ruby smiling as she was helping Jerry with his hair.

She then looked at us and waved. We waved back. It wasn't long before she went back inside the church and Jerry walked up to us.

"Hello Anne. Gilbert, I trust you're doing well."

Gilbert swallowed the lump in his throat and turned and stared at him with a smile.

"I sure am. I trust you do too?"

"Yes. The - What is that?" asked Jerry as he realized that Gilbert was holding a letter.

"A letter-"

"From Aunt Josephine." I quickly interrupted.

"Lovely woman... She let me -"

"I know..." said Gilbert, not bothering to be kind.

"Alright... You better join us soon though." said Jerry and I smiled as I pushed him jokingly towards the church.

Then, I heard a small sob. It was like a little boy's painful sob, because he is going to school for the first time. He was saying goodbye to the life he once knew and saying hello to a new one.

"May I hug you?"

Gilbert didn't even flinch. Then, he shyly look at his feet and nodded. As he was asking for some comfort.

I approached him...

"When I first came here... Most people did not want me sadly. The Cuthbert's wanted a boy. Matthew didn't mind quite a lot. But, they kept me and made me feel like I had a family. No matter Mrs Lynde's opinion of me being terribly skinny and homely, she thought there wasn't any option but to send me to an orphanage. They did not. Then, when we were little we met. You were quite annoying. You deserved that slate hit. But, little did I know that, your beauty wasn't just outside thing, but it was all the way to your heart... Then, I lost you. But, we found each other again. We fought, we were together, we left, we were annoying but we always found our way back. My point is that... It doesn't matter if she is adopted. It never seemed to bother you that I was. She is your sister, maybe not by blood but by heart... Certainly. Don't let your parents handling get in the way of this. Stand up for yourself and of you caring about your sister. You need to be the one, Gil. You need to tell her. Because, if they do she will be harsh and cruel and heartbroken, especially if she learns that you knew. But, if you tell her now. She will keep being your sister and your bond will strengthen." I said as I put my head on his shoulder and he did the same...

Suddenly, his hand found mine and with a small kiss on the forehead. He turned around and started at the sky.

"I am always going to find you." whispered Gilbert as I felt him smile and grasp my hand tighter pulling me slightly closer to him, and we stood there...
