Gilbert's POV
"Why do you have to leave?" pouted a six year old Anne.
"Because, my family is making me." I said with a pout.
"Can I come?" asked Anne with a hopefully smile.
"I'm afraid not." I said with a tear rolling down my cheek as I quickly embraced her.
"I'll miss you, like Harry misses Ginny when he goes away." said Anne with a pout.
"Are you still not allowed to read the books?" I asked with a soft smile.
"I will when I'm eight." said Anne as she hugged me tighter.
"I'm sure you'll love them." I said as I let go of the hug.
"Tell me something about them."
"Again?"
"Yes." said Anne as she clapped her hands, excitedly.
"...Let's just say that the second book. Let me petrified." I said with a smirk.
"Was it that good?" asked an excited Anne.
"Yes." I said as I laughed.
"...Gil-boy."
"Yes, Anne-girl."
"How do I know that you'll be back?" asked Anne as she looked at her hands.
"How about a promise?" I asked as I smiled at her as soon as she raised her head up.
"I'm listening."
"I promise that when we are old enough. I'll marry you." I said confidently.
"Can't I marry you?" asked Anne, confused.
"That's the part of the wife, silly." I said with a chuckle.
"Oh, right." said Anne as she laughed.
"Time to go, Gil." said his mum as she came and kissed me on the forehead.
"Alright." I said and I looked at Anne one more time.
"Please, remember your promise."
"I'll make sure to." I said as I hugged her and walked away with tears rolling down my cheeks.
My mum smiled down at me and we walked into the carriage and sat down.
"Are you alright?" asked mum.
"When will we be back?" I asked, instantly.
"Soon." said mum, but little did I know that soon meant nine years later...
