Amber Scorch was eleven years old when she began dating Kai Macaw at the start of their school year. Amber was as happy as could be, realizing she was finally dating someone she actually liked. However, her father of course never did approve of the notion. Well, regardless, she didn't care. She was on cloud 9 with love an happiness. Although, she never understood why her friends agreed with her father at all. Opal Vietor, her best friend, saw Kai as manipulative. Maybe she was jealous?
Silver Adwin Jr., Amber's best guy friend since middle school began also shared in Opal's sentiments. Amber just calked it up to he and her two other guy friends Raleigh Flynn and Bruno Orin being jealous of Kai. Like her honorary cousin, Night Wukong said "You are a looker, baby!". Amber kept a smile on her face as she walked down the hall after Friday classes ended and to where Kai and her met at usual weekends.
As she was walking down the hall, a smile on her face, she saw Scarlett Bergmann standing next to Kai, smiles on both their faces and the two of them laughing together. Amber hated Scarlett. Scarlett was every stereotypical "hot" and "popular" girl that lived in schools. In turn, Scarlett hated Amber as well for various reasons. Amber's brain, her own looks, just every petty thing in existence. Then again, that was what middle school did to people.
Scarlett was cheer captain for their grade along with Amber's own friend, Sapphire. Scarlett was also close to Amber's bully, Amethyst Kristal. That was a story for another day. As she approached Scarlett and Kai, Bergmann turned towards Amber and pointed to her.
Kai got off of the wall and walked up to Amber. Amber smiled and stopped right in front of Kai, still with a smile on her face.
Amber: Hey. You ready for the camping trip tonight?
Kai: Yeah...uh...about that. See, uh, I think we need to break up.
Amber: Wh-what?
Kai: Look, it was fun but...it's just not the same anymore.
Amber: So...are you...leaving me?
Kai: Yeah. Found someone who had...a spark. See ya, Abby.
Kai began to walk off towards Scarlett. Amber was stunned as Kai and Scarlett walked off together down the hallways and out the door. She just stood there, still stunned. Tears beginning to form in her eyes.
Amber: My name's...Amber though.
Amber just stayed there, taking in all the pain in at once. She then heard footsteps behind her approaching fast. She didn't care if someone ran into her anymore. She was still just in total shock. The footsteps stopped moving and a hand was placed on her shoulder. Amber glanced back and saw that Opal was standing beside her, giving her a sympathetic look.
Amber: You were-
Opal: I can see that. I'm sorry, Amber.
Opal turned Amber towards her and gave her a hug. Knowing of the obvious pain, Opal began to slowly guide Amber out of the halls and guided her towards their usual hang out spot within the school with their group, the cafeteria after school. Ironically enough, after all lunches were over with, the place was completely abandoned with the exception of the janitors, making it a prime spot to hang out at.
After walking into the place, Opal looked to their usual place as Amber had her face into her hands, a few tears falling from her eyes. Spotting their friends, Opal guided Amber over. Before the two were going to sit down, the rest of the group saw them coming over.
Silver: Hey guys! What's...up?
Silver was the first to react to Amber. He got up and made his way over to the two and helped Opal with getting Amber in a seat and began to comfort her. Everyone basically knew what was going on and did their best to support her. At some point, Opal got her hands on Amber's scroll and contacted her parents with it.
