Six months after the marriage began and four months since the honeymoon, Fred and Yang moved out of the Xiao Long-Rose home and into a small apartment within downtown Patch nearby the local college. Yang picked up a few missions since they both had returned from their trip to Vytal and Tai hired Fred as a teacher in Signal Academy. The two of them had a stable income plus with the money donated by Yang's mom, they could afford to move out.
However, that's when Yang noticed an error in their financials. Fred had taken out several thousand dollars at a time, almost to a grand total of 600,000. Confusion was the main thing that ran through Yang's mind as to why he would take out so much all together. Maybe it was for school supplies, or training equipment. However, he never came home with anything of the sort. Then Fred began to get home late and drive out somewhere around 5 or 6 for whatever reason.
Finally, enough was enough. One Friday afternoon, after Fred got home from Signal, the two said their hellos and he began to unpack in a small closet that he used as an office space. Yang walked inside the space and prevented him from moving.
Yang: Well?
Fred: Yeah?
Yang: What have you been doing?
Fred: What do you mean? I've been working. Same as you.
Yang: I meant in the afternoon. You come and go. Our finances are down to almost 700,000 lien. And you make weird calls throughout the day. Fred...what's going on? Are you-(tears up) are you ch-cheating-
Fred: What?! No-no-no! Yang, I could NEVER do that to you!
Yang: Then were have you been?! WHERE FREDERIC?!
Fred: Ok...get in the car. I'll show you.
The two of them got out of the apartment and down to their car. After driving for a few minutes, Yang began to recognized the scenery as the woods of Patch. If she actually expected him to give off the excuse that he went to her father's house every day then Fred would get his ass kicked. However, she then saw that they both passed her father's.
Even more confusion arose. Some sort of historical find that he invested a lot of money into? No, he would let her know right away. Sure she wasn't interested in all but she loved that smile on his face. What was this man doing? If it was an affair, then she could have done a variety of things to prove it. So what was he doing?
Finally, after a bit more of driving down the road, Fred pulled over and parked the car next to a old fence. Yang cocked an eyebrow and turned back to Fred who had a smile on his face.
Yang: Ok. What is this?
Fred: Something I think you're going to like. Come on.
The two got out and began to walk down a smile dirt path. Yang glanced around and saw that it was practically a drive way down to wherever it was leading them to. After about two minutes of walking, Fred picked up the pace and stopped Yang from going any further.
Fred: Alright. So...uh...yeah I got nothing. Just...
Yang: Fred. What on earth are you-what?!
Fred guided Yang to the sight of what he was doing. All around them were construction crews and half an entire house was fully built in it's place along with a shed and outside garage. Yang's jaw dropped at seeing everything at work. Then Weiss stepped out of the house with a smile until she saw Yang and had a bit annoyed look to her face.
Weiss: So, she finally found out.
Fred: Yeah...didn't do a good job covering my tracks.
Weiss: Knew she find out.
Fred rolled his eyes.
Yang: Wait, wait, wait. What is this? What have you been-
Fred: Well, you been complaining about the apartment and you wanted to be closer to your dad and Signal. So...surprise. We have a house now.
Yang began to tear up a bit and she turned and jumped towards Fred and kissed him.
Yang: You son of a-
Fred: Well my adoptive parents are a wolf and a fox, both part of the dog family so yes. You are correct.
Yang: How much of it is done?
Weiss: The frame work is all finished along with the first layer of the walls. However, they've got around two more months of work to get done. So, just in time for your birthday. Shall we?
Yang: Yes...yes we shall Ice Queen.
Weiss: You are aware I got married, right?
Yang: Yeah, to Neptune of all people.
Fred rolled his eyes and laughed a bit at the antics of his wife and her friend. The trio went around the whole first floor. After opening the front door, the left was the staircase upstairs while the right was a small closet. Going down a small hallway, they entered the kitchen. It was a relatively large place, big enough for a friendly get together, or in Yang's case, a family. Across from the kitchen was a large laundry room and next to it was the bathroom.
At the back of the house was a large living room with a deck and patio out back as well. The back also had two doors leaving it. On the right was a path that lead into what would be Fred's new office space. The left one lead into the master bedroom/bathroom. Yang was also sold on walk in closet.
The second floor wasn't as complete, but Yang still loved it. To the right of the stairs was a large game room with a pool and poker tables (or at least planned to). There were also three other bedrooms and two more bathrooms on the floor along with a large theater room. Overall, Yang was in love with the house. Although, she was not a fan of Fred keeping secrets from her. Regardless, the two were more than happy withe their choices here on this day.
With that, the couple drove home with smiles on their faces and excitement in their eyes. Yang was the most excited. It's not that she hated their apartment, however, it was a bit too small and honestly, Yang was never a fan of urban lifestyle. She loved the woods, the nature of the world and loved to see what possibilities could it unleash onto her life. Fred meanwhile was also not much of a fan of the urban style. He grew up in the nicer part of Amber Square, the suburbs and that's how like to live life.
Of course when they got back to their apartment, Yang contacted her father and sister, who of course already knew. Then questions began to flood her mind about the place.
Yang: What's the acreage on the place?
Fred: Around 2 acres. Although, not many people live out that far so we'll build up some funds and see if we can't get the council any possible more. I mean, being a huntsman and huntress that shouldn't take to long, right?
Yang: It all depends. I mean with you in school and all.
Fred: Right. Almost forgot about that.
Yang: We'll cross that bring when we get there. It's a good distance from my dad's so that's fun. Plus about a twenty minute drive to Signal. And about half-an-hour to the main city. Plenty of nature here and there. Plus with that shed, we can have more than enough space. And another plus side, no HOA.
Fred: So you can finally get that garden in.
Yang: Exactly. You picked a good spot.
Fred: Now you give me credit for something.
Yang and Fred laughed a bit until she tackled him onto the bed and the two kept laughing. Yang playfully tackled Fred onto their bed and kissed one another with smiles on their faces.
Fred: Let's go in the garden.
Yang: You'll find something waiting.
Fred and Yang: Right there where you left it
Lying upside down
When you finally find it
You'll see how it's faded
The underside is lighter
When you turn it around.
Everything Stays
Right where you left it
Everything Stays...
