Fred and Amber walked outside to the backyard.  Amber he usual attire on with her yellow cape on her back and scythe in hand.  Fred walk across from her, wearing only a black shirt and pants.  He stretches slightly as Jessie has followed them outside and lies down on the patio.  Amber enters a single battle pose, ready to fight.  Fred shakes his head, silently telling her to stop.

Fred: Semblance training.  You need to know the basics of pyrokensis first before insane applications.

Amber: Right!

Fred: Alright.  Breath.  Steady.

Amber does so and takes some deep, loud, breaths.  Fred opens his eyes, in a bit of annoyance.

Fred: It doesn't have to be that deep.

Amber: Sorry.

Fred: (Sighs) It's short, controlled, deep breaths.  Fire is alive.  It breaths and grows.  You must control the breath and then release (throws a flaming punch) when you believe the time is right.

Amber nods and takes in some deep breaths.  Fred ignites a fire in his hand and waves over towards Amber.  She looks at it and Fred nods.  She takes another deep breath in and visibly struggles to move the flame.  Amber takes more deep breaths as she struggles to harness a fraction of her power and only, barely make a flicker before she releases her breath and falls down.

Fred rushes over to her and helps her back up.

Amber: I don't get it!  I could do it during the exam!  Why cant I do it here?!

Fred: Well, you were having an emotional outburst.  (Amber gives him a questioning look) Essentially, your emotions granted you a mass amount of power, both physical and psychological.  You were under intense physical and psychological stress so your semblance manifested.

Amber: That's how it manifested!  I'm asking how I can't control it!

Fred: (Sighs) From strong emotions, your breathing increase, blood pumping.  Therefore, it's more erratic.  More powerful.  But...when you breath slowly, steadily, you control that fire.  It's a slower process but it will give you more control, might, and can keep the fire from harming any one else real harm.

Amber nods and walks back over to her little spot.  Fred ignites some more fire and the two continue their breathing exercises.  Fred breaths and slowly moves his arms.  Amber opens one eye and does the same movement.  Finally, Fred and Amber both move their arms right before their faces.  Amber opens her eyes again and sees Fred and gasps.

Around Fred is a ring of fire, surprising the heck out of the girl.

Amber: How...how the heck-

Fred: It's called control.  Fire, aside from a living breathing thing, is an energy that can be manipulated.

Amber: Ok, Dad, this is a bit too much.

Fred: Alright, alright.  Let's just worry about breathing.  Fundamentals.

Amber: Or...you could tell me how the heck to move fire and-

Fred: Amber!  This is a process.  A process that takes time.  You can't just jump into the dangerous stuff and expect to master it.

Amber: But others already have control of their semblances and you got yours when you were-

Fred: AMBER!  Stop worrying about how others are advancing.  Worry about how YOU advance.

Amber looked down at the ground.  Fred sighed and walked over to her and placed hands on her shoulders and got her to look up at him.  He smiled down at her and got her to smile back.
