The weekend had begun for Signal Academy and Amber was still in her room that morning. She had nothing going on outside of texting Opal, Sapphire and Kelly. The four had plans to go out today as a girls day out. Currently, they were finalizing the details. Well, her friends were working this out, she was just resting on her bed, thinking about the week prior. Grades were looking good, with the exception of Biology, friends were all doing decently, everything seemed fine...everything but Amethyst Kristal and her relationship with her father.

Of course she loved her father, and especially the nickname he had given her since she was a week old, "Sweetpea". Still, Amethyst's comment reign within her brain.

Amethyst: (Memory) Then stop being a disappointment!

Amber sighed and sat up and saw the series of text messages left behind by her friends. Around noon today, Sapphire was coming by with her mother and Opal to pick Amber up and then drive over to Kelly's and get her. Amber sighed and texted back, agreeing to the plan.

She sighed, got her shower and made her way downstairs to get something to eat that morning. Once she rounded the corner and walked into the kitchen. She stopped once she saw her mother watching something on TV while leaning against the counter. Yang turned to her side and smile once she saw Amber.

Yang: Morning Sweetie. Didn't think I'd see you this morning.

Amber: Sorry about that mom.

Yang: Nah. Don't worry about it. Can I get you anything? There MAY BE some bacon left.

Amber: You ate all of it, didn't you?

Yang: Psh. It was dad.

Amber: He rarely eats more than two strips.

Yang: Still ate it though.

Amber grew a deadpanned look before slowly morphing it into a smile. She walked over and grabbed some milk and got some toast started.

Yang: Any plans of today?

Amber: Uh, some of the girls and I were going to head out for the day. Probably head over to Kelly's after lunch, play some video games and stuff like that.

Yang: When was this?

Amber: Around noon. Maybe a bit later given traffic.

Yang: Good. Gives us plenty of time to talk.

Amber: (Groans) Mom, if this is THE talk, then-

Yang: Amber! Sit down.

Amber groaned again and walked over to her usual spot on the table. However, after she passed by her mother, she saw Yang grip her robotic arm and took a deep breath. Amber still remembered the tales her mother used to tell her and her brother of the Fall of Beacon. How she lost her arm. How her and Amber's father's relationship took a turn with the effects still being felt to this day. But that didn't matter now. Amber sat down and looked at her mother.

Yang: Dr. Wiskunde and Dr. Wissenchaft talked to your father the other day. They're very proud of you.

Amber: I don't need another praise session, mom.

Yang: Let me finish. They're proud, but also made notes. Notes that I also can agree with when I see you fight. You're unfocused. You're not discipling yourself. You're becoming wonky, clumsy, predictable. (Amber looks down, upset) Sweetie, what's wrong?

Amber: Nothing!

Yang: Don't get testy. And something is wrong. Clearly. Amber, talk to me.

Amber: It's...complicated. And...you know what, never mind. There's no point.
