"He's on the rebound and has raging family issues," Elena sighs out, mixing the food in a clear bowl and I raise an eyebrow with interest.
"Well at least it's an ex-girlfriend. Wait till you date a guy with mommy issues or cheating issues," Jenna points out, carrying a red apple in her hand. The front doors swings open and Jeremy walks inside, quickly heading up the stairs.
"Figure out what to do with that yet?" I ask and she shakes her head, taking a bite out of the apple.
"I'm working on it," she announces with a determined voice, marching up the stairs. Elena and I share a meaningful gaze and I shrug my shoulders.
"What's the special dinner for?" I ask curiously and Elena's eyes twinkle with happiness as a smile forms on her face.
"Stefan is coming over for dinner tonight and so is Bonnie. She needs to give him a chance," Elena announces
"I'll be in the living room in case you need a ref," I shoot her a tiny grin, swiping a bag of chips off the counter and heading into the living room. I plop down on the couch and turn on the TV, relaxing.
Stefan, Elena, and Bonnie have been chatting at the dinner table for awhile. So far, all is going well and they actually seem to be having fun. Bonnie's been talking about her Salem background and Stefan seems pretty interested.
Suddenly the doorbell rings and I quickly jump up from the couch. "I got it!" I announce, my voice echoing throughout the house. I swing open the door to find Damon and Caroline standing outside.
"Surprise! Bonnie said you were doing dinner so we brought desert," Caroline comments, walking inside with a tray full of cookies.
"Hope you don't mind," Damon chimes in and I shake my head, glancing back at Elena.
"What are you doing here?" Stefan asks with a harsh tone and wide eyes full of shock.
"Waiting for Sam to invite me in," Damon replies dryly, stepping forward and raising an eyebrow.
"Oh of course, you can-" I start to speak, but Stefan interrupts me with a loud voice. My eyes slightly widen and Damon's expression drops.
"Wait, no! He can't stay, can he?" Stefan blurts out, glaring at his brother with anger. I look at both of the brothers with confusion and turn towards Elena. She shoots me a confused look and presses her pink lips together.
"Stefan, it's fine. You can come in and I'll be doing the dishes," I speak softly with a smile on my face. I walk into the kitchen and start loading the dishwasher with the plates lined up on the counter.
"So, Elena told me Stefan's on the rebound. What does that mean?" I ask, glancing into his dark eyes. Damon's raven hair falls into his face and he leans against the counter, crossing his arms over his chest.
"He had an ex, Katherine. She died in a tragic fire and I'm not sure he'll ever get over her," Damon comments, his words filled with a vendetta against his brother.
"It seems to me like Stefan's already over her, but I am sorry for your loss," I retort with a firm tone, shooting him a look that pierces through his soul.
"Katherine was a lot like Elena, I wouldn't be saying anything just yet. We just have to wait and see," he points out, an evil smirk on his face. I let out a tiny scoff and close up the dishwasher.
"I guess we do," I nod my head and he exits the kitchen. Elena enters the kitchen and glances back at Damon.
"What was that all about?" she asks, a suspicious look painted on her face. I run my tongue over my dry lips and hear the door close quietly.
"I'm not sure about Damon, him and Stefan are so different," I reply dryly, shaking my head at the thought.
"He's not as bad as Stefan says he is, trust me. I think we just need to get to know him a little better," she suggests with an unsure tone and I ponder in my mind.
"Maybe," I mumble under my breath, my mind on a constant loop of Damon Salvatore.
