"Hold on. You want me to drive all the way to Tennessee to find your vampire boyfriend who's been hunting down werewolves?" I scoff out, glancing into my sister's serious eyes.
She runs her fingers through her hair and bobs her head. "Stefan called me the other day. He didn't say anything, but I had Sherriff Forbes trace the call and it came from him," Elena rambles on eagerly and I place my hands on my hips.
"You are very lucky that you're my sister because I would not do this for anyone else," I comment, swiping my keys off the counter and my sister's face lights up with excitement and hope.
"Thank you!' she exclaims, practically skipping out of the house and into my car. I drive out of the tiny town of Mystic Falls and lean back in the seat, turning up the radio.
"You know it's gonna take me over 528 miles to get to the Smoky Mountains, right? Also, there is a full moon tonight," I ask, snapping my head towards her and she lets out a tiny scoff.
"We will be out of there before the moon is full, I promise," she pleads with me, and I tighten my grip on the steering wheel.
I pull inside the deep woods, coming to a slow stop and I turn off the engine. "Any idea where a werewolf pack might be?" I ask curiously and Elena pulls out her phone as we climb out of the car.
"Yeah, I talked to Tyler and I have a location pinned on my map," she explains as we walk down to a river and my eyes glue onto the ridge in the woods.
Two hands grab onto my wrist firmly and throw me into the air. A loud scream escapes my lips and my legs frail around. My body plunges into the water and I quickly swim up to the top.
I spin around and face Damon, who's leaning against a tree with a cocky smirk across his face.
"Damon!" I gasp out with shock, glaring at him with annoyance.
"What are you two doing here?" Elena asks, glancing back at Alaric and Damon.
"You really think we'd let you go into werewolf territory alone?" Alaric asks with a firm tone, and I roll my eyes with annoyance.
"Come on, get out of the water. We're going back to Mystic Falls," Damon demands, crossing his arms over his chest. Elena's eyes widen and her jaw drops open, her eyes meeting mine.
"We can't leave, Damon. We've come this far to finding Stefan and I'm not giving up now," I state clearly and he lets out a frustrated sigh.
"Please, Damon. I need to find him and make sure he's okay," Elena begs, pouting her pink lips with soft eyes.
"Fine, but we are out of before the full moon and I'm werewolf bait," Damon announces and a grin forms on my face. I wade out of the water and we start walking through the deep woods.
Suddenly a loud yell full of pain rings out and I stop in my tracks. My eyes lock onto a man running out and dropping down onto his knees, his bones cracking loudly.
"Is he turning?" Elena asks, her eyes widening. The blood starts to drip down from his eyes and my heart skips a beat.
"He's a hybrid," Alaric reveals and I gulp as he screams out in pain.
"There aren't suppose to be any werewolves out yet! The full moon isn't even out yet," Elena raises her voice, glancing up at the sun that starts to set down over the horizon.
"We need to get out of these woods, now," I demand and Alaric nods his head. Damon, Alaric, Elena and I start to sprint through the woods as the night takes over, the darkness settling in.
My eyes lock onto the clearing where my car and Damon's sit. I let out a sigh of relief and slow, panting heavily. Damon's shoulder nudges mine and I gaze up into his eyes, my stomach churning.
"I saw Stefan in the woods. He told us to stop following him," he whispers into my ear, sending chills up and down my spine. I clench my sweaty palms and let out a quiet sigh.
"I don't want Elena to lose hope," I mumble out, shrugging my shoulders.
"It's been months, Sam. Stefan isn't coming back," Damon comments, lowering his head and I chew on my bottom lip.
