I knock on the door of the Salvatore mansion and the large wooden door swings open. I lower my eyebrows with confusion, and I step inside, the smell of bourbon still lingering in the air.
"Hello? Stefan?" I call out, my voice echoing. I step inside the living room filled with old furniture and large fireplace. The flames grow larger and orange sparks fly out from it. I hear loud coughing in the distance, and I perk up my head.
"Sam," Damon calls out with a weak voice from behind me. I quickly spin around and face him, breathing heavily with surprise. Dark veins grow underneath his eyes and my heart skips a beat.
"Damon, are you okay?" I ask, stepping forward and examining his face. His pupils turn dark and sharp fangs pop out from his mouth. The colors drains from my face and my lips slightly tremble.
Suddenly Damon roughly grabs onto me, cradling me to his chest and I squirm against his, but his grip doesn't loosen. A sting of pains runs through my neck as sharp fangs pierce into my skin and a hoarse scream escapes my lips.
Hot liquid drips down my neck and my limbs go numb with absolute fear. I pound my fists into Damon's body, anywhere I can reach. Damon pulls away from me and I gasp loudly, my stomach churning.
I slap my hand over my wound, wincing out in agony. Red blood drips down his chin and I grimace with disgust. I bring my hand down from my neck and my eyes glue onto the fresh blood painting my hand.
"What are you?!" I ask, slowly backing up until my back hits a cold wall. Damon shoots me a wide smirk, his lips curling up with evilness. He runs his tongue over his lips, picking up my crimson blood.
"A vampire," Damon replies, his eyes flashing red and I shake my head with denial. Girls bitten, bodies drained of blood, and it all makes perfect sense.
Stefan appears behind Damon and grabs onto him, throwing him across the room. Damon rolls on the ground, but flashes up onto his feet.
"Stop it!" Stefan growls out, shoving his brother against a wall with an unhuman strength and my jaw drops open. Stefan's eyes lock with me and he tilts his head over to the door. I gulp and sprint out of the door, climbing into my car.
I quickly back out of the driveway and drive far away from the Salvatore house. My palms become sweaty as I tightly grip the steering wheel, pulling up into the driveway of the Gilbert house.
I quickly run inside the house and up the stairs. I bust into Elena's room and my heart sinks down at the sight of Stefan inside. Elena snaps her head in my direction and she rushes over to me, closing the door.
Her eyes lock onto my neck and she gasps quietly. "Are you okay?" she asks with concern and I nod my head.
"Damon bit me, but I'm fine," I assure her.
"Listen, you guys can't tell anyone. Knowing what you know now is already dangerous," he announces and Elena lets out a tiny scoff. I shoot Elena a tiny glance and she nods her head.
"How can we trust you?" she asks, her eyes softening with tears.
"I don't feed on humans, I only drink animal blood. Damon and I are the only vampires in Mystic Falls. The whole town used to be filled with vampires and everyone knew," he reassures us with a kind tone.
"Used to be? How long ago was that?" I ask, stepping forward with interest. Stefan knits his thick, dark eyebrows together and he lets out a deep sigh.
"I've been 17 years old since 1864," Stefan reveals and my eyes widen. My head pounds trying to digest the information and I stare endlessly at the ground. Elena gulps loudly and nods her head.
"You knew Katherine in 1864 then?" she questions, raising her eyebrow with interest.
"Damon tried to make it seem like I was still heartbroken," Stefan points out and I chew on my bottom lip nervously.
"What was Damon doing to Caroline?" I blurt out and Stefan lowers his head with shame.
"Damon was feeding on Caroline and compelling her not to tell anyone. We're lucky he didn't kill her, there was nothing we could do," Stefan comments and the anger pumps through my veins.
"The compelling? Did that ever happen to us?" Elena asks, her eyes darting over to me. He rapidly shakes his head and walks up to Elena, his fingers wrapping around the necklace dangling on her chest.
I look down at the bracelet on my wrist that Stefan gave me a few days ago and I blink with confusion.
"No, never. I made sure of that. That bracelet and necklace are filled with Vervain. Vervain, it's an herb that protects you from mind compulsion," Stefan explains softly and I nod my head.
"I'll give you two some time to talk, but um, I'll keep your secret, Stefan. I trust you, goodnight," I mumble out, leaving Elena's room.
