Colors of the Wind
"I wanted you to be sure that your mother could live forever."
"We have a new housemate. Barbie Klaus," Damon explains, walking into his room and I cock my head towards him.
"I thought I heard her outside," I sigh out, a stirring forming inside my stomach.
Not only due we have to deal with ripper Stefan who turned off his humanity, we also have to deal with an Original who hates my sister.
"Klaus left her in the dust after I name-dropped Mikael," Damon comments sarcastically and I nod my head, letting out a tiny chuckle.
"You know maybe she's not as worse as Klaus," I comment, regretting the instant the words come out of my words. Damon shoots me a sharp glance and I lower my gaze.
"Did you know that your brother's been seeing his dead girlfriends?" he quickly changes the subject and my eyes widen.
"I'm not even surprised at this point, Damon. As if things could get any worse in Mystic Falls, I think I would drop dead," I mumble out, spreading out my arms and falling down into the comfortable bed.
"Actually...they do. Tyler is sired to Klaus, meaning aka Tyler is now on the enemy's side because hybrid boy is loyal to Klaus because his blood turned him into a hybrid," Damon rambles on with an eager voice and I let out a deep sigh.
I run my hands over my face and let out a frustrated groan. I kick my feet in the air and Damon lets out an amused chuckle. I sit up from the bed and suddenly Damon goes flying through the air.
A gasp escapes my lips and Damon thuds on the ground loudly. I hear a deep, familiar chuckle from behind and I snap my head. My heart skips a beat as my eyes lock onto a man I thought I would never see again.
"Mason?!" I ask, jumping up from the bed, my jaw dropping wide open. Damon whooshes onto his feet and his blue eyes widen as he pants heavily.
"You can see me? Good," Mason replies, a grin forming along his face. My stomach twists into uneasy knots and I shake my head with denial.
"How the hell can we see you?" I ask, stumbling back towards Damon and grabbing onto his wrist. Mason flicks his tongue over his bottom lip and shrugs his shoulders.
"I have no idea, but I'm sure as hell gonna have a lot of fun with you," Mason announces, his eyes locking onto Damon's.
"I killed you. You want revenge. Get in line," Damon demands through gritted teeth, furrowing his dark eyebrows.
"Actually, I want an apology," Mason clears his throat and I bite down on my bottom lip, stifling a laughter.
"You two have fun together and I'll be on the lookout for any other dead vampires, werewolves, or witches," I mumble out, quickly rushing out of the room.
I swing open the front door and the color drains from my face. My knees become weak like noodles and the warm smile on my mother's face almost sends me into a heart attack.
"Mom?" I call out, my voice cracking. A sting in the back of my throat forms and the tears well up in my eyes. My heart pounds rapidly against my chest and my lips tremble.
"My baby, Sam," she calls out with sweet voice, sending chills down my spine. I leap off my feet and crash into her, wrapping my arms around her tightly. Her hand runs over my hair, comforting me.
"How are you even here?" I mumble out, pulling away from her. Her eyes glisten and she clears her throat.
"I planned on telling you this before my death, but I'm a vampire," she reveals and I blink with surprise.
"Why didn't you tell me about you being a vampire?" I ask curiously as she takes my hand into hers.
"I wanted you to be sure that your mother could live forever," her words ring through my eardrums and the tears overwhelm my eyes. The salty liquid starts to pour down my face and I sniffle loudly.
"But you didn't...that's why you didn't tell me," I whisper, my chest pounding heavily.
"I don't know how much longer I have, but I've been watching over you on the other side. I see how happy you are with Elena, Jeremy, and Damon, but I've also seen how hurt you've been," she announces with a soft voice and I lower my head with shame.
"I'm getting through the bad things because of you," I shake my head and she glances away, tears filling her eyes.
"And I am so glad that I give that strength. I'm so grateful that I get to touch you one last time, my sweet daughter. I'm so proud of you," my mother comments, leaning her forehead down onto mine.
"I love you," I sob quietly, the tears dripping down from my jawline. I glance into my mother's eyes one last time and she smiles brightly.
"I love you too, baby," she chuckles out and I squeeze my eyes. Suddenly I can't feel my mother's forehead resting against mine or her hand grazing mine. I slowly open my eyes to find nothing standing in front of me.
I clasp a hand over my mouth and lean against the wall, sobbing loudly.
